Position Summary:
Responsible and accountable for assisting in the safety and security of all patients, visitors, staff, property and installations of the Hospitals. Principally responsible in providing patient, visitor and employee shuttle transports, or collection, special processing and delivery of specified materials. Ensure adherence to Hospitals and departmental policies and rocedures. No patient care assignment.
Detailed responsibilities:
* ASSISTANCE - Provide patient and visitor assistance as required (i.e., obtain transport equipment such as wheelchairs, stretchers, etc.)
* CUSTOMER SERVICE - Respond to additional service or special requests in a timely manner; ensure customer issues are appropriately resolved; demonstrate positive customer relations
* ESCORT - Provide escort service to all patients, visitors and staff as directed
* LOG - Maintain daily log of all encounters, duties and/or assignments in accordance with departmental policy; monitor radio for transportation requests
* PROCEDURES AND REGULATIONS - Maintain complete awareness of responsibilities concerning current fire and disaster procedures; maintain complete awareness and compliance with all safety regulations
* VEHICLES - Maintain Hospitals vehicles in proper working order; maintain cleanliness of all assigned vehicles, report needed repairs to supervisor
* VEHICLES - Perform basic maintenance of vehicles
* VEHICLES - Safely operate Hospitals vehicles in compliance with all city, State, Federal and University and departmental regulations and/or policies

Bilingual English, Spanish, Keres, Tewa, Tiwa, Towa, Zuni, or Navajo 2 years directly related experience

* NM Commercial Drivers License with P Endorsement
* UNM Vehicle Operator's Permit w/in 60 days
Physical Conditions:
Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly (Constantly: activity or condition exists 2/3 or more of the time) to move objects. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for Sedentary Work. May require walking or standing to a significant degree or requires sitting most of the time but entails pushing and/or pulling of arm or leg controls; and/or may require working at a production rate pace entailing the constant pushing and/or pulling of materials even though the weight of materials is negligible.
