What are the responsibilities and job description for the Course Accompanist position at University of New Mexico?
- Under detailed instruction from the instructor, play musical instrument/s to accompany dancers or actors including but not limited to flamenco, ballet, modern or African dance or musical theatre.
- Performs miscellaneous class-related duties as assigned.
Enrolled in a degree seeking program at UNM, Enrolled at least half-time (6 hours) at UNM for fall and spring semesters (Audit hours do not count), and if Work Study, you must meet Satisfactory Academic Progress.
- Eligible to work as a UNM student employee.
- Ability on instrument as per Instructor audition.
- Basic knowledge of principles, fundamentals, and theories of music.
- Ability to follow routine verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to clearly communicate and work effectively with others.
Preferred Qualifications - Ability to provide appropriate rhythmic and music structures and sustain progressions
of mixed meter and irregular rhythmic patterns, adjust rhythms, tempos and
music as needed, improvise and adapt rhythmic patterns. - Ability to memorize, prepare, and adapt musical selections for classwork, class projects, and performances.
