Position Summary
UNM-Taos’ Humanities Department invites applicants living in New Mexico to apply for Temporary Part time Faculty positions (Adjunct) to teach a lower division course in History.These positions will be hired on an as needed basis dependent on student enrollment, course offering matrix, and graduation requirements.The specific courses include, but are not limited to, the following:
HIST 1110 - United States History I
The primary objective of this course is to serve as an introduction to the history of the United States from the pre-colonial period to the immediate aftermath of the Civil War. The elements of this course are designed to inform students on the major events and trends that are essential in the understanding of the development of the United States within the context of world societies. Meets New Mexico General Education Curriculum Area 5: Humanities. 3.000 Credit hours

HIST 1120 - United States History II
The primary objective of this course is to serve as an introduction to the history of the United States from reconstruction to the present. The elements of this course are designed to inform students on the major events and trends that are essential in the understanding of the development of the United States within the context of world societies. Meets New Mexico General Education Curriculum Area 5: Humanities. 3.000 Credit hours

HIST 1150 - Western Civilization I
This course is a chronological treatment of the history of the western world from ancient times to the early modern era. The elements of this course are designed to inform students on the major events and trends that are essential in the understanding of the development of western civilization within the context of world societies. Selective attention will be given to "non-western" civilizations which impact and influence the development of "western" civilization. Meets New Mexico General Education Curriculum Area 5: Humanities. 3.000 Credit hours

The elements of this course are designed to inform students on the major events and trends that are essential in the understanding of the development of New Mexico within the context of the Americas. 3.000 Credit hours

Salary ranges from $902.38,to $1,002.70 per credit hourdepending on successful candidates’ qualifications. Thisposting is for both face to face and remote delivery of courses.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s degree in the discipline or subfield in which they are applying to teach.Applicant must have completed a program of study in the discipline or subfield in which they teach, with coursework at least one level above that of the courses being taught or developed (e.g., completed a minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in the discipline or subfield in which they teach or tested experience that is determined to be equivalent to the degree).
Preferred Qualifications:
Teaching experience in a post-secondary institution, particularly community college experience.
Ability to teach the foundational literacy progression in an adult setting.
Experience with learner centered instructional practices.
Knowledge of trauma informed and brain-based pedagogy
Experience differentiating instruction for a multi-level classroom
Demonstrated experience in remote delivery of instruction.
Successful experience in practice or field work (if applicable).
A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities.
