Department Summary | The Counseling Program offers an undergraduate minor in counseling associate studies, and masters' and doctoral degrees in counseling. The Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP) has conferred accreditation on the following tracks in the counseling program at UNT: clinical mental health counseling, school counseling, and the PhD in counseling. The UNT Counseling Program is consistently ranked as one of the top counseling programs in the U.S. by U.S. News & World Report, Best-Education-Schools.com, and GraduatePrograms.com. The UNT Counseling Program has been recognized multiple times with the Association for Counselor Education and Supervision's Outstanding Program Award. UNT has a highly diverse campus with a wide range of languages spoken in addition to English. Position Summary | The Counseling Program at UNT seeks a faculty member with a demonstrated record of strength in leadership and teaching to support the program's professional, and academic initiatives. This position will contribute to the program, college, and university's commitment to maintain excellence at the national level. This appointment is a nine-month, non-tenure-track appointment beginning fall semester 2023. Salary will be commensurate with experience. Part-time summer teaching is contingent on student demand and funding. Primary responsibilities include: (1) coordinating the undergraduate program; (2) teaching three courses each semester in CACREP core and counseling specialty areas; (3) providing administrative service; (4) providing clinical supervision to master's and doctoral level students; (5) advising/mentoring students; (6) serving on dissertation committees; (7) working with faculty members in the Counseling Program and with those centers, institutes, and clinics affiliated with the Program to maintain and enhance the Program's national stature; and (8) participating actively on university committees and in professional counseling organizations. |
Minimum Qualifications | The candidate must hold a doctorate in counselor education by start of employment; must demonstrate a record of effective teaching, supervision, and professional activity; and must demonstrate strength and flexibility to teach undergraduate counseling courses, and across the CACREP core, including both clinical and didactic courses. |
Preferred Qualifications | Preferred qualifications include (1) a doctorate from a CACREP-accredited program, and (2) licensure (or licensure-eligibility) as a Professional Counselor. |
