Facility Technician

Be a part of Notre Dame Research! Notre Dame Research's Freimann Life Science Center (FLSC) is recruiting a Facility Technician . The FLSC is home to virtually all laboratory animals supporting Notre Dame teaching and research and is comprised of two state-of-the-art animal facilities.. The Facility Technician is responsible for the care and welfare of the laboratory animals used in research and education. The Facility Technician must have knowledge of a variety of animal species including their natural behaviors and their environmental requirements. The Facility Technician must also have a working knowledge of animal welfare regulations and federal laws.
The Facility Technician will serve as back-up for all technician positions and must be competent to perform the duties of Animal Husbandry Technician, Aquatic Room Technician and Cage Wash Technician as needed.
The Facility Technician will be expected to identify, lead and implement process improvement projects and will serve as liaison for Continuous Improvement projects.

The Facility Technician will attend continuing education meetings and complete on-line education modules as assigned by the training coordinator

The Facility Technician will have responsibility for the administrative duties necessary for operations at FLSC's RCH location and will assist with other ad hoc duties as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in biology, biochemistry or related field
• 1-2 years relevant experience
• Excellent communication skills, including ability to communicate with a diverse audience.
• Attention to detail required.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Yellow Belt Certification and knowledge of Continuous Improvement processes preferred.
• Knowledge of University programs (BuyND, AIM) required.
