We are recruiting an energetic professional to work as a Research Contracts, Program Manager (RCPM) within NDRA. This position is perfect for someone looking to build and manage a diverse portfolio of research contracting experiences, including federal, foundation, and industry sponsors. The RCPM will have a wide range of scientific and technical responsibilities and gain exposure to researchers from many disciplines and other stakeholders across campus.

The ability to work both independently and within a team is critical for success in the RCPM role. While we are looking for someone who enjoys contract work, we are searching for those who also enjoy learning new things and will find unique ways to share their talents with the organization. NDR nurtures professional growth through internal and external training and participation in professional organizations.

NDRA's RCPM team manages the receipt, review, approval, and establishment of all sponsored program awards within Notre Dame's portfolio, currently over $138M annually. RCPM activities include:
  • Proficiently review, negotiate and accept agreements related to research (collaborative research agreements, MOUs, material transfer agreements, non-disclosure agreements, etc.)
  • Establish and negotiate sub-awards with sub-recipients of all types and research consulting agreements.
  • Proficiently draft and execute customized contracts for non-standard situations, such as Industry Master Sponsored Research Agreements (MSRA) and Industrial Testing Agreements.
  • Support University compliance requirements such as IRB, export control, sub-recipient monitoring, FFATA, and technical and intellectual property reporting requirements.
  • Maintain information and documentation in our electronic research administration systems, and interface with Grants Program Management (GPM) staff for financial and programmatic award management.



We are searching for professional (level II) and senior professional (level III) research contracts professionals. We welcome applications from candidates looking to work remotely or who wish to work on our beautiful campus near South Bend, IN.

Minimum Qualifications:
Qualifications for II Level Professional
  • Bachelors degree required. Will consider equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3 years of professional work experience
  • Candidates MUST have a strong interest working in research contracts
  • Candidates must be eligible for an export control license or exception.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and negotiation skills.



Qualifications for III Level Sr. Professional
  • All qualifications of II Level Professional plus 3 years of experience working in the research contracts industry.
  • Sr. Candidates must have experience with the review, acceptance, negotiation of grants and contracts for sponsored program funding.
  • Additionally experience with eRA systems, sponsor systems, university legal and contractual requirements and policy.



Preferred Qualifications:
Preferred qualifications for Level II Professional candidates include:
  • Prior professional or student experience with sponsored research preferred.
  • Experience with the review, acceptance, negotiation of grants and contracts for sponsored program funding is preferred, but will train.
  • Experience with eRA systems, sponsor systems, university legal and contractual requirements, and policy preferred, but will train.
  • Certified Research Administrator certification preferred but not required.
