A Post-Doctoral position is immediately available in the Department of Biomedical and Pharmaceutical Sciences, College of Pharmacy, University of Rhode Island. The research program in Dr. Deng’s lab is mainly focused on studying the regulation of bile acids and associated liver disorders, including intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy (ICP), liver injury and repair, metabolic diseases, and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), with an emphasis on investigating nuclear receptor signaling pathways. The post-doctoral fellow is expected to investigate the mechanistic insights into the dysregulation of bile acid and associated liver diseases and complications using a combination of biochemical, molecular, cellular, and functional genomic approaches in vitro and in vivo.
Salary: Commensurate with years of relevant post-doctoral experience based on post-doctoral stipend levels recommended by National Institutes of Health (NIH).
Status of the position: This is a full-time, calendar year position with limited appointment up to year 2028.
Requirements:
1. Ph.D. or equivalent in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Pharmacology, Cancer Biology, or other related life sciences fields.
2. Experience in using standard biochemical, molecular, cellular, and functional genomic techniques.
3. Background in nuclear receptor signaling and protein-protein interaction is desirable.
4. Demonstrated ability to work independently with critical thinking, problem solving, and attentiveness to detail.
5. Experience working with mouse models is a plus.
6. Demonstrated strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
7. Demonstrated proficiency in written communication skills.
8. Ability to work with and provide supervision to undergraduate, graduate and internship students.
