Come join our team of financial aid professionals! The financial aid industry is a very rewarding, always-evolving career field. No two days are the same for a financial aid professional! The University of South Carolina – Columbia Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships (OSFAS) awards over $475,000,000 of aid annually to students, making the dream of a college education a reality for many.
This position focuses primarily on the administration of Title IV Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP). This includes reviewing financial aid recipients for compliance with SAP and assisting students in understanding the process and submitting appeals for reconsideration of aid eligibility when SAP has not been met. In addition, this position serves as a member of our team of financial aid professionals, helping students and parents navigate the complexities of financial aid during peak times of the year.
The University of South Carolina – Columbia OSFAS provides intensive training, professional development opportunities, possible hybrid remote work arrangements, and a team atmosphere focused on the successful administration of financial aid.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and 2 or more years of experience, which may be substituted by equivalent combination of certification, training, education, and/or experience.


Preferred Qualifications
Experience in financial aid program administration.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
This position demands a strong working knowledge of all Title IV financial aid programs as well as knowledge of all University academic programs and requirements. Strong systems processing as it relates to the academic records management is essential. The ability to effectively communicate with students, parents, colleagues, faculty and other offices with the University; manage a high volume of records analysis and follow-up; and a strong management and excellent problem-solving skills are necessary. Willingness to work in a team structure and a strong dedication to student service required.

Assists in all facets of reviewing and determining eligibility status of Pell Grant and Federal Direct Loan recipients who have demonstrated unusual enrollment histories (UEH)
a. reviews all students designated by the federal processor as needing UEH resolution
b. determines whether further documentation of prior academic enrollments and is needed
c. assures that eligibility status checks in this area are complete and that students are notified appropriately
d. monitors ongoing academic performance as regulated

a. maintains a thorough knowledge of the entire student financial aid process from application receipt through aid delivery
b. reviews application information for accuracy, consistency, and eligibility
c. analyzes application information to assess students’ individual situations and needs
d. initiates any necessary follow-up to resolve inconsistent or incomplete information e. reviews student awards and makes adjustments as they are identified
