Position Description
Advertised Job Summary
The statistician/biostatistician will use SAS to provide project support for data management (e.g., write code to check and process data, create formats and labels, create codebooks, identify potential errors and outliers in datasets); use SAS to conduct data analyses to answer study questions (primary). Most studies are randomized or quasi-experimental trials of physical activity, diet, and/or weight loss and conduct power calculations and propose statistical analyses for grant proposals (secondary)
Minimum Qualifications (Classified and Unclassified positions)
Master’s degree in statistics or related field, or bachelor’s degree in statistics or related field and 2 years related experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in statistics/biostatistics or closely related field (e.g., quantitative psychology). Prefer candidates with degrees from public health or a behavioral health field.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Must have strong working knowledge of and experience with SAS. Must be very attentive to details and accuracy. Must have experience analyzing behavioral data. Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access. Experience using relational databases. Must be comfortable taking initiative and juggling multiple projects and timelines.
