THIS POSITION IS LOCATED IN KNOXVILLE, TN.
JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The Medical Administrative Associate II provides accounts receivable support to the UT Internal Medicine & OB/Gyn Center through coding, billing, financial counseling, posting of charges and payments, follow up on claims denials, Episodes of Care Reporting, and assists residents with proper code selection.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Verifies proper billing methods are adhered to as set for by CMS and CoM.
- Works outstanding accounts receivables by following up on claims, denials, and insurance issues.
- Charges data entry of charges for Internal Medicine and OB/Gyn
- Performs electronic posting of most payments through CPS PM billing module.
- Reviews ICD 10 and CPT coding prior to billing.
- Contacts physician for clarification when necessary.
- Reviews Episodes of Care for errors and omissions.
- Researches and communicates possible corrections to TennCare MCOs.
- Performs other related job duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION: High School Diploma or GED. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)
EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years of billing or related office experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Ability to learn Cerner EMR/PM.
- Ability to multi-task and shift priorities.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision with keen attention to detail.
- Proficiency with Word Processing programs, hospital based EMR, and calculator.
- Skilled in current ICD10 and CPT coding.
WORK SCHEDULE: This position may be occasionally required to work evenings.
