Purpose

The Director for Assessment and Data Analytics is responsible for the management of departmental assessment efforts and data analytics. They will serve in key support capacity to the units within University Housing, Dining and Longhorn Hospitality, and the SVP/COO portfolio.

Responsibilities
  • Project Management: Work with internal stakeholders to determine assessment needs and the most effective assessment strategy needed to gather data and achieve project goals. Assist in the research and evaluation of new programs and initiatives as needed. Work with department staff to ensure data collection and dissemination is a priority when planning new projects or enhancing current systems. Recommend projects to further the goals of the department.

  • Data Analytics: Support student development and employment initiatives by developing assessment tools and data collection strategies, such as: student employee demographics, recruitment, retention efforts, and measuring student learning and NACE competency development. Contribute to the development of departmental information management and reporting systems. Support IT staff in the development of new technology solutions related to tracking and reporting housing demographics, off-campus housing market analysis; and student and staff employee data and analytics. Contribute to the development of systemic tools resulting in metrics used to drive department decisions. Develop meaningful analytic conclusions and recommend innovative solutions related to data collected. Present findings to various audiences utilizing visualization software and technology to enhance comprehension. Maintain accountability for datasets and methods. Maintain working knowledge and oversight of various department software accounts (Qualtrics, Wufoo, etc.). Support SVP/COO portfolio in planning, designing and implementing benchmarking and data analysis projects and initiatives.

  • Strategic Planning: Responsible for the overall planning and coordination of activities required for departmental, SVP/COO portfolio, and campus-wide assessment efforts. Oversee department compliance with SACS accreditation requirements by coordinating department and program level assessment plans in support of external accountability and internal improvement efforts. Prepare reports and presentations. Manage the department's assessment plan within the university's online system. Assist associate and assistant vice presidents in developing a housing master planning strategy.

  • Training and Development: Provide education and direction to department staff relative to assessment design, implementation, and best practices. Stay apprised of and share relevant industry research findings, benchmarking data, survey reports, and trends. Serve as a central location for external survey responses and data requests.

  • Administration: Serve on or consult with departmental division, campus, and national committees; maintain professional knowledge required for position; be involved in professional organizations; attend conferences; stay current with regard to industry trends and technologies; prepare semester and annual reports; conduct statistical analyses; make recommendations and write proposals for possible implementation. Serve as contributing member of staff; attend and participate in staff meetings; assist with goal setting and future directions; coordinate special projects and events as required; perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in a related field.

  • 5 years of experience in assessment and/or data analytics.

  • 3 years of project management experience.

  • Experience managing data analytics software.

  • Experience managing projects independently.

  • Effective communication abilities, including interpreting data written and verbal.

  • Proven ability to analyze and produce clear, succinct reports on assessment and data analytics.

  • Strong presentation and reporting skills.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Masters degree in related field and/or MBA.

  • More than 5 years of experience in assessment and/or data analytics.

  • Certification and/or license in data software management.

  • Experience in higher education.

  • Experience working with multiple units and departments in a highly collaborative environment.

  • Ability to self-start and take initiative.

Salary Range

$125,000 depending on qualifications

Work Shift
  • Monday - Friday, 8:00AM -5:00PM. Hours and days may vary depending on business needs to include occasional after-hours work, nights, and weekends.

Retirement Plan Eligibility:

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
