Salary Range: Up to $53,000 annualized, commensurate with education, experience and qualifications.

Hours: up to 40 hours per week, exempt.

Essential Functions

Job Summary

Assists in the planning, daily operations, and logistics of various programs and administrative functions of a portfolio of student success initiatives in the Alvarez College of Business Student Success Center. Student Success services and programs include but are not limited to career management, professional development, academic support services, global immersion trips, student well-being, student life cycle, and experiential learning.

Core Responsibilities
  • Participates in an agile-based project management that supports the Alvarez Student Success Center team. Assist with the management of logistics with small to large-scale events and provide on-site support during events. Supports the execution of various activities, experiences, and/or services for business students throughout the year. Portfolio of projects may include but are not limited to student life cycle activities, career-engaged learning experiences, peer coaching programs, first-year programs, professional development workshops, specialized graduate career management events, global business immersions, employer networking events, and academic support programs that assist undergraduate and graduate students with their academic and career-related needs.
  • Assists the Alvarez Student Success Center team with scheduling meetings and events, reserving facilities and meeting rooms, including coordinating with other UTSA departments and external organizations as needed.
  • Meets with students one-on-one or in group settings for career coaching, providing referrals, information, and/or resources. Serve as a liaison and build relationships with faculty, student groups, and college and university stakeholders to develop and execute innovative activities, resources, and experiences that empower students to become career-ready. The position collaborates with a variety of stakeholders to increase student success and support students in career and professional development in the specified program.
  • Assists with program data collection. Gather and organize data to include but not be limited to tracking student program requirements, participation and engagement, reflection summaries, and programming effectiveness.
  • Assists with the hiring, onboarding, training, and performance review of undergraduate and graduate students. May supervise undergraduate and graduate students working in the Student Success Center. Serve on center interview committees and when appropriate.
  • Participates in professional development activities to ensure professional growth and knowledge needed to provide effective leadership and stay abreast of emerging trends. Participate in various local, state, regional, and national organizations and conferences.
  • Serves on college and university committees and on special projects as requested.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required in Business, Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Human Resources, or other related major.
  • Two (2) years of a Master's degree or higher would substitute for two years of work experience.
  • Three (3) years of experience in planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating a program and events.
  • Experience developing and facilitating workshops and events.
  • Ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced and expanding work environment.
  • Demonstrate ability to organize and work independently as a leader and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated independent decision-making and problem-solving ability.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in higher education, career services, and student success programs.
  • Knowledge of career education and resources including NACE, LinkedIn, Handshake, VMock, or other related resources.
  • Experience using a learning management system (Canvas preferred).
  • Previous experience working with students and/or clients individually or in a group setting.

Working Conditions

Working Environment:
  • Office environment.
  • Requires the use of personal computing equipment, telephone, multi-functioning printer, and calculator.
  • Ability to travel to and from meetings, training sessions, or other business-related events.
  • Occasional after-hours and weekend work or overtime may be required.

Physical Demands:
  • Sedentary work; sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary, - routinely.
  • Walking and standing - occasionally.
  • Bending and stooping - occasionally.
  • Lifting and exerting up to 10 lbs. of force - occasionally.
  • Repetitive hand motion - routinely.

This position will require working both remotely in Texas and on campus (approximately five or more days on campus per month). Travel and parking expenses are the employee's responsibility. Applicants must be adaptable and open to working in both environments.
