Essential Functions
Job Summary
The Department of History is hiring a Project Specialist to coordinate and expand its internship program at the graduate and undergraduate levels.
Duties
Primary:

Make and update contact with all historical institutions, archives, museums, public historical sites, and other appropriate entities that can host student interns; primarily in San Antonio and its vicinity but including other locations in TX and beyond.

Maintain contact and coordination with site supervisors at the host organizations.

Disseminate information via department social media, email, etc., to the student body.

Work with the Student Success Center in COLFA to broadcast history internship opportunities, and streamline process of student registration.

Advice and mentor students who are interested in applying for history internships.

Work with Department UGAR and GAR regarding internship requirements and expectations.

Visit history classes, especially Methods (HIS 3013), upper-division HIS classes, and graduate seminars to promote internships.

Develop internship content material for use on department website.
Required Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications
- M.A. in History

Have held one or more internship, preferably, at the graduate level.

With extensive knowledge of and contacts with historical institutions, archives, museums, and other similar entities in the San Antonio area.
Working Conditions
- The position will require occasional work in the evening and on weekends, depending on particular assignments.
This position will be primarily located:
Hybrid-Regularly: This position will require working both remotely and on campus (approximately five or more days on campus per month). Travel and parking expenses are the employee's responsibility. Applicants must be adaptable and open to working in both environments.
