The University of Texas Permian Basin's Internal Audit Department welcomes applications for the position of Internal Auditor I, II, or III.


Salary Range

$60,000.00 depending on qualifications

Essential Functions


The staff Internal Auditor is an important member of the Internal Audit team, assisting in the planning, performance, and follow-up of internal audits, management advisory engagements, and other important projects. The Internal Auditor is highly analytical, communicates effectively, and performs under limited supervision. Prior experience and any licensure and/or certification will be considered in determining entry level of Auditor I, Auditor II, or Auditor III.

1. Under supervision of the Chief Audit Executive or Senior Auditor, assist in performing comprehensive and complex audits and advisory projects across all departments and functions in accordance with professional standards. Typical engagement tasks include, but may not be limited to, conducting engagement-level risk assessments, defining engagement objectives, developing audit procedures based on risk, conducting and documenting client interviews, performing audit testing and assessing business process controls, documenting work performed, communicating results both verbally and in writing, and following up on actions planned by management.

2. Communicate timely with clients as needed throughout each engagement to ensure documentation of work and identified issues are accurate, thorough, reliable, and fair.

3. Prepare audit reports that are clear and concise, accurately reflect identified issues, and are agreed upon with clients. Advise clients in the preparation of action plans to effectively mitigate or manage identified deficiencies and risks.

4. Adhere to professional auditing standards under both the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing and Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards¿(GAGAS), as applicable, and maintain a current understanding and comply with all Federal, State, University, and University of Texas System rules and policies.

5. Build strong relationships with key stakeholders throughout the university.

6. Stay current with industry trends, emerging risks, and best practices in internal auditing. Participate in professional development activities including training sessions, industry conferences, and opportunities for collaboration with other University of Texas institutions’ internal audit teams.

Required Qualifications


1. Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, or related field.
2. Related experience in public, internal or governmental auditing will determine entry level as Auditor I, Auditor II, or Auditor III.

Preferred Qualifications


1. Possession of or progress toward licensure as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), certification as a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), or other related professional certification.

Schedule

Generally, the normal work hours for the university are Monday through Thursday, 7:30 – 5:30 pm; Friday, 8:00 am – 12:00 pm with a one-hour lunch. The individual holding this position may need to be available early morning, evening, and on weekends to meet the needs of the department. Hours worked may differ with some departments.


Standard Working Conditions

1. Able to lift various materials up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis.
2. Able to bend, crouch, and reach continuously.
3. Physically able remain seated, frequently to continuously.
4. Able to remain standing up to 15% of the time.
5. Possesses dexterity abilities required to perform job duties including extensive keyboard work, operating office equipment, performing filing, and other job-related responsibilities that include extensive wrist and hand movement.
6. Standard working conditions may differ depending on department and occupation
