Primary Purpose:
The Assistant Director of Donor Relations designs and implements stewardship activities and appropriate recognition and follow through for all donors to the University, especially as related to endowment reports, University and unit-based donor and recognition events, naming opportunities, gift societies and honor rolls.

Essential Functions:Donor Recognition and Event support:
Assist the Director with strategic planning for Donor Relations and Stewardship to help deploy resources, develop evaluation measures, and ensure consistent high-quality work.
Responsible for the Annual Endowment Reporting process including annual process development/improvement, research, collaborating with internal partners, assembly, mailing, appropriate documenting practices and responding to donor or development officer inquiries.
Serve as liaison between central Donor Relations and the colleges/units to gather impact data, beneficiary testimonies, and fund utilization details.
Assist in bringing donor recognition societies to full fruition including induction/welcome processes, calendaring and executing annual communications and engagement plans, and consistent evaluation of donor experience and needs.
Work with Division partners on donor recognition events including the annual Scholarship Appreciation Luncheon, plan detailed programs, coordinate and coach student presenters and orchestrate successful logistical arrangements to enhance program success.
Implement and execute Donor Relations and Stewardship programs which includes s developing and editing content, collateral and mailing assembly, monthly data pulls for program mailings, and internal education/awareness initiatives.
Collaborate with team leads on impact reporting, endowed chairs and professorships recognition, and other VIP donor experiences in partnership with University Advancement.

Communications support:
Coordinate communications and marketing needs of the Donor Relations Team in relation to recognition and engagement initiatives.
Ensure that donors to the University are thanked appropriately, professionally, and accurately according to gift levels, donor history, and special circumstances through specialized acknowledgements (both custom and broad-based).
Ensure timeliness of acknowledgments through appropriate tracking methods; ensure departmental correspondence adheres to industry best practices and recommended turnaround times.
Assist on special communications projects such as newsletters, books, and reports.
Coordinate general stewardship communications programs, including personalized and multi-channel communications such as letters, videos, web and social media content.
Prepare donor relations event briefings and top donor bio documents for the Vice President and/or other executive staff as needed. Project Management/Other:
Respond to special needs and requests of donors.
Achieve operational objectives by contributing information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews; prepare and complete action plans; implement production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards, resolve problems, identify trends, determine system improvements and assist in implementing change.
Develop, coordinate, manage, and execute special project activities and timelines.
Prioritize multiple assignments and plans and executes strategies to work independently and under limited time-frames to meet deadlines; ensures project deliverables are met.
Prepare reports and graphs as requested insuring accuracy of data and clarity of presentation.
Assist with implementing project protocols, templates and procedures.
Reviews and updates departmental processes/procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree.
Three (3) years of related development work experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated experience in providing active donor stewardship and enhancing stewardship practices.
Knowledge of fundraising principals relating to identifying, qualifying, cultivating, and soliciting donors and experience integrating stewardship at appropriate stages and levels.
An understanding of financial aid and scholarship practices in a University setting.
Ability to interpret financial data for fund tracking and donor stewardship practices and demonstrated ability to draft customized endowment reports.
Ability to facilitate and enhance leadership level knowledge gift acknowledgement practices and monitor general acknowledgement policies and practices.
Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal.
Exceptionally strong customer service focus and orientation.
Strong interpersonal skills: tact, self-confidence, diplomacy, teamwork, good judgment, and confidentiality.
A self-starter, comfortable working independently and with teams.
Strong organizational, planning and time management skills; attentiveness to detail.
Ability to manage multiple tasks.
Functional knowledge of office software and database systems, preferably Microsoft Office and Banner.
Positive attitude, proven ability to work successfully with diverse populations and demonstrated commitment to promote and enhance diversity and inclusion.
Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting.
Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.

Requires extended periods of sitting and repetitive hand/wrist motion while using computer keyboard and phone. Occasional standing, walking across campus and climbing stairs, bending, stooping and reaching. Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.

Work Environment/Work Week/Travel:
Work is primarily performed in a standard office environment with use of computer and phone. Work generally performed during standard business hours of 8AM - 5PM, Monday through Friday; night and/or additional hours may be required to meet business needs or deadlines.

Hiring Range: Commensurate with experience, exempt
