Primary Purpose:
The Director of Student Success & Alumni relations in the School of Health Sciences (SHS) is responsible for the oversight of effective management and administration of the functions, events, infrastructure that support SHS student success across the continuum of a student journey from prospective student to alumni. The position supports yield and retention efforts, student and alumni events that enhance success and engagement for all the programs in the SHS under the guidance of the Dean.

Essential Functions:
Responsible for developing effective yield and retention strategies for all programs in the School of Health Sciences. Reports to the SHS Dean on effectiveness of strategies and key enrollment metrics.
Guides all aspects of admissions including: workshops for procedures related to application, interviews, and selection, to ensure a smooth transition into the program, maintaining the highest standards of customer service.
Plans and leads communication, engagement, and events for applicants and confirmed students in order to increase yield and retention of students in SHS programs.
Conducts regular meetings with SHS program staff & faculty to discuss progress on enrollment and related issues. Advises programs on industry best practices related to yield and retention strategy and oversees execution and implementation of tactics to achieve student enrollment targets, including but not limited to, positive experiences of prospective students during on-campus/ virtual interviews, follow-up individualized outreach efforts, etc. to ensure admission, yield and retention processes are conducted smoothly and provide the required yield & retention annually.
Partners with multiple university departments including, but not limited to: Enrollment Management, Student Accounts, Financial Aid, and Development, in order to resolve incoming student requests, questions and issues.
Ensures accuracy of communications, guiding process from prospective students to admitted students. Participates in the admission process of competitive professional degree programs and supports the Deans office and programs in making admission decisions as needed.
Directs SHS programs strategies in application management, including : responding to applicant inquires,: communicating with applicants and prospective applicants by telephone, in the office, by mail, and by e-mail to answer inquiries and provide information about SHS programs. Communicates regularly to inform and update prospective students, admitted students, waitlisted and denied applicants.
Develop long-range strategic vision for diverse students success (identity development, intersectionality and student development/retention strategies) using student, institutional, and national data to plan and evaluate programming.
Leads the selection and awarding process of school-level scholarships for incoming students.
Assists the SHS Director of Marketing & communication with the development of content for marketing/communication publications, social media posts, etc., that socialize the success of students in SHS.
Oversees planning and coordination of school-wide events, including recruiting, white-coats ceremonies, scholarship colloquiums, graduation banquets, alumni events, outreach, SHS day, etc. Provides presentations at recruitment events on SHS programs.
Leads strategic planning for student engagement, school spirit, student leadership and development programs, engagement outreach programs, and collaborative schoolwide initiatives that include development and implementation of student success events/programs.
Collaborates with SHS Sr. Dean for Advancement for strategic planning and implementation of alumni engagement activities for all programs in the school and works towards building the SHS alumni network.
Plans development and implementation of programs and projects that strategically engage alumni in strengthening their relationship with the SHS.
Manages Alumni Relations operating budgets.
Partners with Development colleagues to identify, cultivate and steward alumni.
Serves as a liaison with colleagues throughout the University to ensure their effective involvement in alumni activities and successful joint programming.
Educates and mentors SHS staff on alumni relations program development.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree.
Five (5) years of experience in client/student support.

Preferred Qualifications:
Excellent oral and written communication skills. Communication skills
must reflect excellent interpersonal skills to interact effectively with prospective applicants, campus administrative offices and staff related to the admissions process. Exercises sound judgment in providing information and answering questions.
Strong ability to plan, manage and implement events on campus.
Possesses the flexibility and ability to operate in several databases at one time. This includes, but is not limited to, Salesforce, Asana and Banner. Must be able to navigate these systems to provide a high level of customer service to the public.
Excellent ability to accurately interpret and explain policies and procedures.
Ability to exercise diplomacy and deal effectively with people.
Ability to handle a variety of inquiries and situations in a calm precise way.
Strong organizational skills; ability to multi-task and plan work to meet deadlines, strong attention to detail.
Ability to maintain complete confidentiality except as to authorized sources.
Positive attitude, proven ability to work successfully with diverse populations and demonstrated commitment to promote and enhance diversity and inclusion.
Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting.
Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.

Requires extended periods of sitting and repetitive hand/wrist motion while using computer keyboard and phone. Occasional standing, walking, climbing stairs, bending, stooping and reaching. Occasional lifting up to twenty-five (25) pounds.

Work Environment/Work Week/Travel: Work is primarily performed in a standard office environment. Work performed mostly during standard business hours. Some events on weekends/evenings are to be expected and will be scheduled with advance notice. Occasional travel to the Stockton and San Francisco campuses, as well as off-site locations to support recruitment and alumni events.
Valid drivers license required. Incumbent must also be able to meet the Universitys fleet rules and be eligible to drive for University business. The University and its insurance carrier reserves the right to exclude applicants based on their driving record.
