UW Information Technology (UW-IT) is the central information technology organization for the University of Washington, responsible for strategic planning, oversight, and direction of the UWs IT infrastructure, resources, and services. UW-IT provides critical technology support to all three campuses, UW medical centers, and research operations around the world. UW-IT partners with the UW community to enable innovation, learning, discovery, and service. The IT Infrastructure division provides knowledgeable system design and administration, software engineering, and operational support for academic systems, administrative systems, and research computing.
IT Infrastructure (ITI) division of UW-IT delivers the technology infrastructure required to sustain UW as a leading research, teaching, learning, and medical institution. These technologies support the UWs core mission at all levels research, teaching, learning, healthcare, and the necessary underlying administrative and operational functions required to deliver these services. ITI infrastructure supports all three UW campuses (Seattle, Bothell, and Tacoma), UW Medicine (medical centers and clinics), the state K-20 Education Network (300 school districts), and the Pacific Northwest Gigapop (research & education networks throughout the PNW and Pacific Rim). ITI designs, builds, and operates technology infrastructure services including networks, computing & storage solutions, data centers, telecommunications services, identity & access management, and the infrastructure tools required to operate, integrate, and report on these services.
This position requires a team-oriented IT professional, experienced with Proofpoint, email protocols, and email security technologies.
REQUIRMENTS:
Bachelors Degree in_ computer science or a related field or equivalent experience.
Minimum of 3 years' experience managing and maintaining Proofpoint with an emphasis on Proofpoint DLP/Encryption.
Minimum of 3 years experience troubleshooting email deliverability issues
Knowledge of IETF email-related RFCs, including SMTP, SPF, and DKIM
Knowledge of information protection practices and relevant regulatory and compliance requirements.
Demonstrated ability to learn quickly and apply new technologies
Demonstrated excellent written/oral communication skills, technical documentation skills, user liaison skills, and personal interaction abilities
DESIRED:
Experience with Sendmail or Postfix
Experience with project or task tracking tools (e.g. JIRA, Trello, Asana).
Familiarity with ITIL service management practices.
Prior experience in a research university or other academic institution
Familiarity with working in a Unix environment
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT Working conditions include typical office environments. Up to 100% remote work may be possible. Position participates in an on-call rotation and must be able to respond to outages during off-hours, including holidays and weekends. This is an essential position and is required to report to work remotely when UW suspends operations.
