Job Summary


Reporting to the University Registrar, the Associate Registrar serves as a key leader in the Office of the Registrar, with accountability for Curriculum and Graduation. The position manages and maintains computer software logic programs that support Degree Works, the University’s advising/degree audit tool; manages program curriculum updates to ensure accuracy and alignment with USG and UWG policies and procedures. The position also supervises the Registrar’s Office Graduation Team who has overall responsibility for degree auditing, major/minor changes, awarding of degrees, issuing diplomas, graduation participation, graduation web page and the graduation fair. The position is also a member of the Commencement Committee.

Responsibilities


Degree Works

  • Uses Scribe programming language to update Degree Works, the University’s degree audit system. Makes decisions on appropriate methods to track degree requirements, adding course attributes where needed
  • Liaisons with administrators, functional and technical users to compile and program university degree requirements into the Degree Works software
  • Serves as functional lead on development, implementation, and testing Degree Works and its components: Composer, Transit and Controller
  • Administers access roles to faculty and staff for the Degree Works

Curriculum Management

  • Oversees the academic curriculum program change update process
  • Reviews and approves all Curriculog new and revised academic program requests for accuracy and feasibility
  • Enters new programs/adjustments into the Degree Works software timely
  • Serves as a resource for deans and department chairs on curriculum processes, working with them to coordinate program updates
  • Monitors the USG’s Degrees and Majors Authorized (DMA) website for approved degree updates. Applies the approved degrees, majors, and certificates to the Degree Works software
  • Interprets and implements academic policies, making recommendations to the registrar, academic affairs and appropriate dean/associate dean
  • Attends senate graduate and undergraduate program committee meetings in the absence of the Registrar

Training/Documentation

  • Provides Degree Works training for university faculty and staff
  • Create and maintain user documentation for DegreeWorks including Transit, Controller and Composer

Graduation/Commencement

  • Oversees exceptions to degree, general education, major, minor and certificate requirements
  • Represents the Office of the Registrar on the University Commencement Committee
  • Assumes proxy responsibility of the department in the absence of the Registrar and Senior Associate Registrar
  • Works with Assistant Registrar-Graduation to plan and implement graduation-related activities to include the registrar website and working at each Commencement ceremony

Required Qualifications


Educational Requirements

  • Bachelors degree


Required Experience

  • 2-3 years of higher education experience at the Assistant Registrar or equivalent level
  • 1 year of supervisory experience
  • 1 year experience working with a complex student information system.

Preferred Qualifications


Preferred Educational Qualifications

  • Masters degree


Preferred Experience

  • Experience working directly programing Degree Works (SCRIBE, COMPOSER, TRANSIT, CONTROLLER)
  • 2 years of supervisory experience and experience working with Curriculog or another curriculum software

Proposed Salary


$58,000 (Yearly)
