Job Summary:

The sustainability lecturer will be a key team member of the Nelson Institute for Environmental Studies and the UW Madison Office of Sustainability. The sustainability lecturer will be expected to teach a load of 10 credit hours each fall and spring semester. Courses may include 1) Life Cycle Assessment (3 credits, existing course), 2) Community Service in Sustainability (1 credit, seminar style course). Other sustainability subject areas which the lecturer has experience with will also be considered. This 12-month appointment also includes summer teaching responsibilities of four credits: 1) A general service sustainability course (3 credits, new course), and 2) Community Service in Sustainability (1 credit). Responsibilities will include lecturing, conducting regularly scheduled office hours, writing and grading exams and homework, supervising teaching assistants, and creating new course content. Continuing professional development opportunities will be provided. Facilitates classroom, online, and/or laboratory instruction and assists with instructional development and design for a single course or series of courses within an academic discipline to support the delivery of quality instruction. Provides for-credit instruction in formats such as classroom, online and/or laboratory settings, including grading. Serves as an instructor of record. Responsibilities: Facilitates classroom, online, and/or laboratory instruction and assists with instructional development and design for a single course or series of courses within an academic discipline to support the delivery of quality instruction. Provides for-credit instruction in formats such as classroom, online and/or laboratory settings, including grading. Serves as an instructor of record.
  • 60% Facilitates classroom, online and/or laboratory instruction for one or more courses, including assessment of student performance
  • 20% Develops instructional design and curriculum relevant to a course of instruction
  • 10% Serves as an initial point of contact for students as it relates to specific course or series content and expectations
  • 10% Supervision of Teaching Assistants within the department

Education:

Required
PhD, ABD, other terminal degree, or a degree at least one level above the level of instruction

Qualifications:

- Interest in teaching quantitative sustainability courses
- Experience with sustainability in research and/or teaching context
- Demonstrated experience/interest in working with an interdisciplinary sustainability team
- Experience with quantitative aspects of sustainability in research and/or teaching context
- Contributions to diversity, inclusivity, and equity in the field of sustainability

Work Type:

Full Time: 100%

This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.

Salary:

Minimum $65,000 ANNUAL (12 months)
