Position Summary: |
Reporting to the Teaching, Learning, and Technology Manager who directs the UW Oshkosh College of Nursing Simulation & Skills Lab, The Simulation Operations Specialist provides operational, technical, and support for delivery of all simulation activities in the UW Oshkosh College of Nursing Simulation Center. This position collaborates with faculty, staff, and leadership and will support, design, develop, and enhance instructional activities, programs, and curriculum. The Simulation Operations Specialist will utilize effective educational methodologies and technologies to meet organizational and learning needs.
Typical hours: Mon - Fri 7:30am - 4:30pm with occasional evening or weekend hours. Working remotely must be approved by the Simulation Director.

Responsibilities |
Simulation and Skills lab Support - 70%
- Serve as simulator operator by programming, testing, and running scenarios with faculty, assuring that the facility and equipment are set up for teaching sessions
- Analyzes, tests, troubleshoots, resolves issues, and provides feedback regarding simulation learning technologies
- Understand the use and operation of different simulator technologies, ranging from anatomic models, task trainers, screen-based simulations to full body patient simulators, and virtual reality surgical simulators
- Advise/support with simulation needs for directors, faculty, and learners for simulation
- Provides consultation, training, and/or support for learning technology tools and platforms
- Maintain electronic files and assist with documentation related to simulation activities for accreditation
- Assists with the design and development of engaging, effective learning experiences which may be face-to-face, blended, and/or online
- Complete initial edits, reviews, and updates of existing instructional materials
- Collect, organize, interpret, and disseminate data to identify instructional program needs & enhance effectiveness
- Assist with the development of appropriate systems for tracking related information
- Maintain and track simulation lab inventory of consumables and equipment
- Assist with the design and development of multimedia learning materials
- Provide support for faculty development and engagement programs and activities
- Attend training as it relates to simulation activities
- Train others on set-up instructions for simulation and debriefing rooms
- Maintain security of equipment in Simulation Center when in use
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, work well under pressure, set priorities, and make critical decisions
- Self-motivated and require little to no supervision with the ability to work as a team member
Technical support - 25%
- Research, design, and acquire learning resources, technologies, materials, and/or processes to support learning
- Provide training/technical support directly to learners in settings such as debriefing rooms and simulation suites
- Analyze, test, troubleshoot, resolve issues, and provide feedback regarding learning technologies
- Facilitates communication with multimedia service providers to ensure instructional program needs are met
- Maintain and provide repair and service to all simulation related equipment
- Set-up and clean-up for simulation activities, including AV-live streaming/recording and manikin preparation
- Assists with providing basic training/technical support for screen-based and virtual reality-based simulations to students/faculty in settings such as classrooms, labs, clinics, and distance learning mediums
- Collaborate on installing software updates on laptops and maintain manikin components as directed by manufacturer support and Information Technology

Qualifications |

Required: |
- Associate Degree
- Proficiency in Word Processing, Microsoft Suite, and other related software applications
- Highly organized and ability to work in a fast-paced, technical environment
- Experience accurately tracking or recording data for customers/clients
- Excellent Oral/Written Communication skills and attention to detail
- Demonstrated experience prioritizing tasks
- Ability to work independently and under the guidance/direction of others
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion

- Demonstrated experience supporting, advising, teaching, or training a variety of individuals
- Education/Experience working with simulation related technology, software, and equipment
- Education/Experience in a health care field
