Position Title: Vice Chancellor (Vice Chancellor for Advancement and Community Partnerships)

Employment Type: Full-Time Limited

Reports To: TheVice Chancellor will report tothe Chancellor.

Full Time Pay Range: $150,000-180,000

UW-Parkside seeks a self-motivated, strategic, and growth-oriented partner who is eager to build a program, close principal gifts, and collaborate with committed partners across campus and community.

The Vice Chancellor for Advancement and Community Partnership serves as the institutional officer providing leadership, development, and management of coordinated development, alumni relations, community relations, corporate partnerships, public relations, and communications initiatives.

University Advancement and Community Partnership is responsible for leading dynamic development activities, corporate relations, community relations, alumni relations, Foundation Board engagement, strategic communication, and legislative liaison activities to support the University's long-term sustainability of its educational mission and distinctive position in public higher education. Development includes individual giving, major gifts, annual giving, planned giving, corporate philanthropy, foundation giving, donor cultivation, and stewardship. Alumni relations include working with constituent alumni organizations, the Alumni Association, the academic colleges, and the athletic department to foster engagement of a diverse community with the students, faculty, and staff to advance the University's mission. Community engagement includes outreach activities that advance partnerships and the reputation of the University. Communications and public relations efforts include strategic communication with alumni and donors to the University and various community stakeholders in the region as well as media relations covering all University units.


Essential Job Functions

Key Job Responsibilities:

Leadership
  • Provide a strategic vision for development and alumni relations and implement that vision through collaborative leadership with the Chancellor, UW-Parkside Foundation, and the UW-Parkside Alumni Association.
  • In collaboration with the Chancellor and the UW-Parkside Foundation, develop annual fundraising targets and a strategic plan to meet established goals. Goals build on essential fundraising strategies and programs, including Major and Principal Gifts, Annual Giving, Corporate Philanthropy, Alumni Engagement and Giving, Planned Giving, and premier donor and prospect engagement events and activities.
  • Serve as the principal gift officer for UW-Parkside focused on successfully closing major gifts that serve to transform the university.
  • Serves as an adviser to the Chancellor on UW System, state and federal rules and regulations regarding philanthropic giving and development operations within the state of Wisconsin.
  • Serve as liaison and advisor to the Chancellor and cabinet on the annual Foundation governance calendar and activities, including fundraising reports, financial reporting, and annual internal and independent audits.
  • Advisor to the Chancellor and cabinet on communications, public relations, and legislative liaison topics.
  • Prepare or direct comprehensive reports and provide oversight for activities related to identifying, cultivating, and securing major gifts and fundraising campaigns in support of the strategic goals of the University.
  • Coordinate the development of strategic fundraising programs with each of the academic deans and Vice Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs/Provost to include major gift identification, solicitation, and stewardship, as well as planned alumni and prospect cultivation events and activities.
Donor and Constituent Relations
  • Build relationships with personal and professional contacts to cultivate mutually beneficial relationships with community leaders, business leaders, alumni, parents, and donors to meet the university's strategic fundraising goals.
  • Serve as a representative for the University (and the Chancellor, as needed), interacting with donors, alumni, constituents, and the general public at internal and external functions both in and out of state as required to meet University fundraising goals.
  • Serve as primary liaison with the University of Wisconsin-Parkside Foundation.
  • Set goals and prepare regular reports on donations, visits, contacts, projects, and major gifts for the Chancellor and the UW-Parkside Foundation.
  • Manage a portfolio of major and principal gift prospects.
  • Advancement and fundraising initiatives with attention to major gift donors, prospects, alumni, and premier fundraising events.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • At least ten years of progressively responsible managerial/leadership experience in a complex organization
  • Demonstrable success soliciting and closing major and principal gifts
  • Demonstrated success leading advancement, development, community, and/or fundraising initiatives
  • Demonstrated skill in fostering effective relationships with stakeholders at the University and the public
  • Demonstrated experience in crafting and presenting high-profile communications and presentations

The ideal candidate will possess a master's degree and experience in at least two of the following program areas: individual giving, annual giving, corporate and foundation philanthropy, comprehensive campaign planning, and planned giving.
