Job Overview:
As our Corps Custodian, you will perform custodial care and maintenance of The
Salvation Army buildings, vehicles, grounds and supplies. Manage volunteers and
community service workers assigned.
What You Will Do:
• Directing volunteers in performing assigned tasks throughout the building
• Vacuum, mop and maintenance of all floors
• Cleaning of all building areas
• Maintenance of supplies and sanitation of restrooms
• Responsible for changing of lights
• Trash removal
• Building maintenance
• Program areas set up, take down and clean up, including rentals
• Lawn maintenance when/where contracted service is not warranted
• Snow and ice removal when contracted service is not warranted
• Pick up orders and supplies as directed
• Responsible for vehicle cleanliness, regular maintenance, and ensuring mileage
logs are maintained and current on a regular basis
• Promote the mission of The Salvation Army and the Corps’ Cultural Mission
Statement.
• All other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the
minimal education, experience, skills, and/or abilities required for this position.
Education: High School Diploma preferred, but not required.
Background Checks: Position requires a background check to be completed. Findings
may disqualify an individual for this position
Experience: Two years of janitorial experience preferred.
Certifications: Must have a valid driver’s license and maintain The Salvation Army Driver’s
qualification standard. Must complete Safe From Harm training within the first 90 days of
employment
Skills/Abilities:
• Able to speak, write and understand English in a manner sufficient for effective
communication with leadership, field personnel, and clientele. Fluency in a
second language is preferred.
• Knowledge of principles and practices of cleaning
• Knowledge of principles and practices of simple building maintenance
• Knowledge of principles and practices of floor maintenance
• Ability to relate well with others required
• Ability to plan and schedule work as needed
• Ability to work without immediate supervision required
• Ability to work with staff required
Supervisory Responsibility: Will supervise volunteers and community service workers
on a regular basis

Physical Requirements Include:
• Good speaking, hearing and vision ability, and excellent manual dexterity

Travel: Position will require local travel for vehicle maintenance and pick up of orders
and supplies
Working Conditions: Work is performed in a hectic environment. Locations is primarily
indoors but will include outdoors activities. Some weekend and evening work will be
required
