Job summary: monitors, operates, adjusts, maintains, and repairs a variety of technical equipment for the campus central heating plant.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum / Required
Basic knowledge of boiler operation.
Basic knowledge of valves, pumps, compressors, fans, and piping systems.
Mechanical aptitude including the use of common hand tools.
Highly Desired
Boiler operation and maintenance experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES
This position will be operating and maintaining all equipment within the central heating plant.
DEPARTMENT INFORMATION
The Central Heating Plant at University of Wisconsin – Stout has a total available capacity of 202,000 pounds of steam per hour. The plant is staffed 24 hours per day, 7 days a week, year round: with the exception of an annual shutdown period for maintenance. The Central Heating Plant has the capacity to burn two different types of fuels: natural gas and ultra-low-sulfer fuel oil: emergency backup fuel.
The Central Heating Plant is a sub-department of Facilities Management, who’s mission is to provide the university and community with the highest quality facilities and physical environment for learning, living and working, by maximizing available resources and technology.

The hourly rate for this position is based on experience and available budget. A twelve-month probationary period is required. The UW System provides an excellent benefits package including participation in the Wisconsin State retirement plan.
