JOB TITLE:

BSW Program Director/Assistant Lecturer - Division of Social Work

JOB PURPOSE:

The Division of Social Work at the University of Wyoming invites applications for a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) Program Director position at the rank of Assistant Lecturer, with a preferred start date of August 2024. The BSW Program Director is a 12-month, full-time position. In addition to administrative leadership of the BSW Program and instruction, the successful candidate will engage in teaching, recruitment, advising, profession-related community engagement, and service to the Division, University, and profession.

The Division of Social Work offers a Generalist BSW program from two campuses, Laramie and the University of Wyoming at Casper (UWC). Additionally, the division provides an Advanced Generalist MSW Program on both campuses, enrolling approximately 70 undergraduate and 50 graduate students.The BSW program provides a traditional in-person experience on each of the campuses, while the MSW program utilizes intensive face-to-face week-end classes and distance education methods to deliver the curriculum statewide. The Division has a commitment to scholarship, education, and practice rooted in the principles and values of social justice.

The University and the Division of Social Work maintain outreach efforts across Wyoming, providing excellent opportunities for community practice and research. UW is the state's only public baccalaureate and graduate education provider and is a Carnegie-designated doctoral university/high research activity. With a student enrollment of about 11,000, UW combines major university benefits and small school advantages.

We seek candidates with social work practice, teaching, and administrative experience who can advance our commitment to socially just practice and uphold our tradition of excellence in educating new social workers. Candidates should demonstrate a strong commitment to student-centered pedagogy, social justice, and engaged learning and have distance teaching and course development experience. Additionally, experience working in rural settings and evidence of strong interpersonal skills are highly valued.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to, BSW Program administration, including student recruitment, admission, and advisement; curriculum leadership; guiding the BSW program through the accreditation process; teaching a range of BSW classes across curricula; and University and community service. The position may require evening teaching, travel within the state, and teaching using distance delivery systems.

REMOTE WORK ELIGIBILITY:

This position provides vital support to campus customers and requires the successful candidate be available to work on campus.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • MSW from a CSWE-accredited program
  • Two years of post-MSW practice experience
  • Evidence of leadership experiences
  • Record of teaching coursework in BSW programs
  • Demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Valid driver's license with a motor vehicle record (MVR) that is compliant with the .

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in a generalist/advanced generalist social work program
  • Prior academic administrative experience at the university level
  • Experience with online teaching and/or distance education programs
  • Experience with and/or knowledge of CSWE accreditation standards and processes
