JOB TITLE:

Assistant Professor, Special Education

JOB PURPOSE:

This position supports the College of Education's Special Education Undergraduate and Master's program in Special Education.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

We expect all faculty at the University of Wyoming to be excellent teachers and be committed to innovative teaching approaches resulting in improved student learning. Faculty in the College typically teach five courses per academic year. The successful candidate will be expected to engage in academic scholarship (including grant writing and conducting/publishing/presenting research in special education), along with service within the university and to the profession.

REMOTE WORK ELIGIBILITY:

This role involves critical support for campus activities and necessitates the successful candidate to be available for on-campus work.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• An earned Ph.D. in Special Education or related field (or degree conferral by time of appointment).
• Teaching experience in higher education.
• Evidence of or strong potential for research and scholarship of national significance;
• Content expertise on critical issues in special education;
• Ability to work with, advise, and mentor undergraduate and graduate students;
• Effective interpersonal and communication skills and commitment to work collectively as a member of a dynamic team;
• Valid driver's license with a motor vehicle record (MVR) that is compliant with the .

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• We are particularly interested in candidates with a background in mild to moderate disabilities.
• Successful experience working in school/districts with a Response to Intervention, Positive Behavior Support, and/or Universal Design for Learning.
• Successful experience working with students from culturally and linguistically diverse populations.
• Experience delivering distance education instruction.
• Experience and/or potential for meeting the land-grant mission of the university to support constituents across the state through outreach and development efforts.
