JOB TITLE:
The Williams Conservatory is home to over 600 tropical, neotropical, temperate and arid species from around the world. Conservatory facilities are used by researchers, educators, students in both K-12 and post-secondary levels, artists, horticulture enthusiasts, and the general public.
Job location: Williams Conservatory in Aven Nelson Building
Pay rate or range: $10.00 per hour
JOB PURPOSE:
Maintenance and care of greenhouse plants.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position will assist in general cleaning, maintenance, and care of greenhouse plants in the Williams Conservatory located in the Aven Nelson Botany Building. Experience in horticulture, agriculture, or a related field is preferred.
Duties may include but are not limited to: water, weed, prune, clean/organize, fertilize, and miscellaneous greenhouse tasks; monitor and control pests; collect data; propagate plants for fundraising or educational purposes; and occasionally care for research plants.
Skills:
- Any experience in horticulture, agriculture, or a related field.
- Ability to work independently after proper training.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Willing to work weekends.
REMOTE WORK ELIGIBILITY:
This position provides vital support to campus customers and requires the successful candidate be available to work on campus.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education : High School Diploma / GED
Experience : Any experience in horticulture, agriculture, or a related field
Other requirements: Ability to work independently after proper training; Ability to lift 50 lbs.; Willingness to work weekends; Must be eligible, have received and accepted work study award through Student Financial Aid for the applicable semester and/or academic year.
