Description
Overview: University Settlement, established in 1886, operates a 42,000 square-foot community facility in partnership with the Chinatown YMCA called the Houston Street Center. The Program Associate is the primary ambassador and administrative support for University Settlement programming at the Houston Street Center, including SONYC STRIDE After-school Program for Middle School and High School youth, STRIDE to College and career readiness program, EXCEL Program for youth and families with special needs, Senior HEART providing health and wellness for older neighbors, and Community Space Rental providing low-cost meeting space for the community.
The Program Associate is responsible for creating a welcoming environment for all visitors to the Center, assisting program participants, and performing administrative duties to support daily operations and strategic plans. In addition, the Program Associate will be an active member of the team that fulfills the mission of University Settlement and the Center.
Responsibilities:

Greet and direct all visitors to Houston Street Center, including all program participants

Answer in-person, phone and email inquiries about programs and do necessary follow-up

Train staff and volunteers that work directly at the front desk

Assist with programs operations and outreach

Assist with room set-ups to ensure that the space is properly equipped for Center’s programs

Monitor daily programs attendance, input attendance into programs data system, including Salesforce, DYCD Connect, etc.

Collect and maintain comprehensive, up to date, and accurate records

Oversee purchasing of supplies for all programs

Prepare and track Center's RFPs

Perform appropriate responsibilities within the scope of the position as assigned by the supervisor
Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in social work, non-profit administration, education, counseling, or related field preferred, Associate degree required

At least 2 years previous experience working with youth, older adults from diverse backgrounds

Strong background in program development, data tracking and outreach

Sensitivity to multi-cultural issues

Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills

Self-directed and able to work as part of a team

Creativity, flexibility, and commitment

Bilingual Chinese (Cantonese or Mandarin) preferred
