Our Kennesaw campus is located at 1000 Chastain Road NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144. Our Marietta campus is located at 1100 South Marietta Parkway, Marietta, GA 30060.
Job Summary
Responsible for creating, preparing and improving recipes for baked goods such as pastries, breads, and plated desserts. Assists in overseeing and/or instructing Assistant Baker in baking and cleaning equipment and facilities. Ensures quality controls and recipe standardization are in compliance with approved standards. Monitors and enforces food sanitization and safety standards.
Responsibilities
1. Ensures proper training and compliance with recipes and standards
2. Arranges presentations of desserts, platters and pastry products
3. Maintains levels of daily production assignments
4. Ensures food quality through tasting
5. Maintains and operates equipment according to approved safety standards
6. Reports issues with production, equipment, personnel or products to management
7. Maintains daily sanitation standards and logs
8. Maintains positive attitude and willingness to improve skills and presentations
9. Ensures open communication to foster training, knowledge, and team work
10. Accepts ownership and responsibility for success of pastry shop and team
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
High School diploma or equivalent
Required Experience
Two (2) years skilled training and experience in baking pastries, cakes and/or breads in a commercial kitchen environment; Experience preparing custom made bakery items, decorating and frosting cakes, and recipe scaling
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
ABILITIES
Able to maintain records of output, quantities of ingredients used, and supplies on hand; Able to implement procedures, methods, and activities developed by others; Able to deal with multiple tasks or projects at one time
KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge of the types and grades of ingredients used in general pastry and bread making; Knowledge of equipment and methods used in baking; Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards used for large-scale operations; Knowledge of basic math and food services terminology; Knowledge of sanitation regulations and food handling procedures
SKILLS
Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem solving, independent judgment, technology, organization, communication (verbal and written), and time management skills; Basic knowledge of computer applications and programs associated with position (i.e. Microsoft Office suite); Strong attention to detail and follow up skills; Strong customer service skills and phone etiquette
