The Department of Pediatrics is seeking a self-motivated and highly-organized individual to join our Office of Education team as the Medical Education Program Coordinator for our Pediatrics Clerkship. This is a full-time (40 hours per week), non-exempt (paid by the hour), administrative (non-clinical) position. Applicant is eligible to work remotely for up to two days per week after successful completion of probationary period.
Under the general supervision of the Medical Education Program Manager and the Clerkship Program Director, the person in this position plans and implements the administrative and operational activities of the clinical rotations in Pediatrics for third-year and fourth-year medical students, including visiting students. The role provides direct support to medical students and serves as the first line of communication with medical students, visiting student applicants, clerkship faculty, and the UNM Office of Medical Student Affairs (OMSA).

About the Pediatrics Office of Education:
Our office exists within the Department of Pediatrics, which is part of the UNM School of Medicine. We are entrusted with the rewarding responsibility of working with faculty and learners to ensure the successful pediatric education of medical students and physicians at various levels of training. Five education programs are coordinated by our office and our staff is cross-trained to assist each other when needed. Additionally, we are part of a large, supportive network of other pediatric medical education coordinators nationwide.
About the program you would coordinate:
The Pediatrics Clerkship program trains medical students to care for babies and children through rotations in their third and fourth years of medical school. All third-year medical students at UNM are required to complete a six-week Pediatrics clerkship rotation. These rotations consist of up to 16 learners at a time and may include physician assistant students. Additionally, fourth-year medical students from UNM and elsewhere may choose to complete one or more four-week rotations in various pediatric subspecialties. We typically have up to five students on these rotations at once.
