The University of New Mexico has established branch
colleges to serve the citizens of New Mexico and to provide the highest
quality of education for students pursuing post-secondary education at
different locations throughout the state. Branch colleges respond
specifically to the unique needs and multicultural backgrounds of their
respective communities by offering community education programs, career
education including certificate and associate degree programs, and transfer
programs that prepare students for upper division entry into colleges and
universities.
UNM-Gallup is seeking a Senior Operations Manager /Director of Workforce Development to grow, manage, and plan for workforce initiatives in collaboration with the UNM-Gallup Chancellor, Academic Affairs, Community Education and the local business community. This is a front-facing position that will spend a substantial percentage of time building and enhancing relationships between UNM-Gallup and the greater Gallup community.
The Senior Operations Manager/Director of Workforce Development will be responsible for:
1. Community engagement to assess and address the workforce needs of the greater Gallup community/region.
2. The planning, development, and management of all aspects of workforce programming and initiatives.
3. Supervision of Community Education staff.
4. Creation of both credit bearing and non-credit bearing workforce-related course offerings, via established university processes, to meet the needs of the greater Gallup community.
5. Working with the administration on strategic planning initiatives specific to workforce development.
6. Coordinating with Academic Divisions and Student Affairs in job placement/career services programming.
7. Collaborating productively with university employees and stakeholders.
8. Securing and managing relevant local, state and federal grants that enhance workforce development initiatives at UNM-Gallup.
9. Serving as the chair of an advisory board for workforce development.
10. Maintaining all relevant trainings, certifications, licenses, etc., for the candidate and staff, required for effective and responsible functioning of the workforce development area.
11. Recruiting, orient, scheduling and supervising any additional approved staff positions.
12. Other duties as assigned by the UNM-Gallup Chancellor.
