Position Description
Tucson Electric Power, one of Arizona’s leading utility companies, seeks an individual for the position of Summer Student Intern in the Procurement & Contracts Department. We are looking for an energetic addition to our team to assist in in providing administrative support to the Procurement & Contracts team. This position will supplement the Procurement & Contracts Department staff and offer work experience to the successful candidate. Student Interns are employed on a temporary basis and are generally not eligible for some benefits; including holiday and vacation pay. Scheduling of work hours and assignments should be made taking into consideration that Student Interns are students first and employees second.
Position-Related Responsibilities
· Performs complex administrative functions in support of the Procurement & Contracts department including but not limited to: typing, filing, reports, analyzing and presenting to department management results, developing Power Point presentations, scheduling meetings, and working on special projects.
· Must possess functional knowledge of all Microsoft Office products, including Excel spreadsheets, word processing, Power Point, and presentation software. Knowledge of Oracle eBusiness Suite is preferred. Ability to collect, compile and analyze data and present findings.
· Independent judgment and initiative are required to plan, prioritize and organize a diversified workload.
· Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups across functional lines.
· Position requires demonstrated poise, tact, diplomacy and a willingness to function in a solution oriented capacity.
· This position may provide services to affiliates of the Company subject to the UNS Energy Code of Conduct and the related Policies and Procedures.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
· Must be pursuing a degree in Business Management/Administration or related field with a graduation date no earlier than May of 2025
· Must be able to work a minimum of 15 – 20 hours per week during regular business hours; and 20 – 40 hours a week during the summer and school breaks.
· Must demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills.
· Must be able to work independently as well as in a team environment.
Requirements
· High school diploma or GED.
· Student Interns must maintain the required hours for full-time student status, good academic standing at their college or university, as defined by the college or university and the GPA required for graduation by their college or university.
· Failure to maintain full-time status, good academic standing and/or the requisite GPA will result in Student Interns being deemed ineligible for participation in this program.
