General Summary:
The position will execute the strategy and development of a digital solutiondigital solutions and core services (leave, ADA, ASO STD) in alignment with the overall Solutions business strategy.The primary accountability of this position is to provide thought leadership and oversight of the specific solution team (comprised of direct reports and / or shared resources), specific to owning the product roadmap, key initiatives, customer experience associated with the solution and the day-to-day operations, including sales support, on-boarding, ongoing administration, and finance functions.
The responsibilities for this position will include driving both innovative and continuous improvement actions that improve the customer experience, drive growth/retention and deliver operational efficiency.
This position will require strong partnerships with various functional organizations, including IT / Innovation, the Field, Learning and Development, and Marketing, Analytics.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead Unum Solutions strategy efforts with respect to the specific digital solutiondigital solutions and core services as well as provide support to Solutions leadership for overall strategy development (as needed).
- Responsible for all phases on the delivery, through internal and external partners.
- Stewardship of the solution’s market positioning and reputation
- Establish and deliver on the business plan (including financial plan) for the solution’s entry and continued success in the market including financial, talent, marketplace, operational, legal and regulatory aspects
- Agree and deliver on sales targets through partnership with internal / external distribution partners
- Determine and prioritize product capabilities required to effectively compete. Drive execution of roadmaps
- Create processes & metrics to report performance to leadership, request additional (or slowdown of) investment as needed
- Be a visible and active leader with internal and external stakeholders
- Build strong relationships and credibility with the Unum field force, brokers and other distribution partners
- Work with external communications and marketing to launch and bolster PR efforts
- Develop network of external contacts and resources and help create our presence within market
- Oversee operations and partner relationships with internal and external partners (e.g., vendors)
- Ensure operations are running smoothly and problem-solve as needed.
- Serve as primary relationship manager with key partners
- Ensure strong compliance and ethics culture across internal & external operations
- In conjunction with Solutions leadership, identify opportunities to identify, enhance and promote synergistic capabilities, e.g., analytics, across the Solutions P&L
- Determine if data and insights gathered through the digital solution can help better position other products or identify opportunities for next solution to be built
Determine if there are new processes/technologies that can be introduced within the solution platform
Strategic Planning and Execution
- Owns the resourcing strategy across all the solution delivery departments
- Responsible for the development and implementation of key initiatives to ensure solution’s financial and product development goals are met.
- Strategic execution of partner integrations to ensure market development goals are met.
- Partners with Sales, to foster a culture of customer advocacy by leveraging data such as relevant claims data to better position the solution
- Influences lifetime value through product adoption and seeks opportunities for customer advocacy and referrals.
- Partners and aligns closely with Marketing communications, Product evolution, Sales and with the Executive Team around key metrics and objectives

- Participates in Senior Leadership meetings where applicable
- Participates in monthly operational and financial reviews and owns functional Operations area reports
Job Specifications
- 7 years experience within employee benefits (specifically with FMLA, corporate leave, ADA, and PFML) or digital product operations or SaaS space
- Bachelors degree required; MBA preferred.
- Strong empathy for customers combined with the drive to achieve business goals
- The skills to be a data-driven decision maker, with a willingness to experiment and iterate
- A track record of developing, coaching and mentoring talent; influencing stakeholders
- Demonstrated desire for continuous learning and improvement
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
- Very strong problem structuring and analytical skills
- Fast paced; comfortable with tight deadlines, fast turnaround times and ambiguity
- Ability to travel as needed.

The base salary range for applicants for this position is listed below. Unless actual salary is indicated above in the job description, actual pay will be based on skill, geographical location and experience.
$114,100.00-$205,400.00Additionally, Unum offers a portfolio of benefits and rewards that are competitive and comprehensive including healthcare benefits (health, vision, dental), insurance benefits (short & long-term disability), performance-based incentive plans, paid time off, and a 401(k) retirement plan with an employer match up to 5% and an additional 4.5% contribution whether you contribute to the plan or not. All benefits are subject to the terms and conditions of individual Plans.
