Host Job Description Job Summary:

The host greets guests as they enter and shows them to their table or waiting area. You will also engage with guests to ensure their experience is exceeding expectations.
Duties/Responsibilities:

• Greeting guests as they enter, and putting them on a waiting list as necessary; ensures the table is clean and that utensils, napkins, and other needs have been provided.

• Providing guests with menus and answering any initial questions.

• Seating guests at tables or in waiting areas.

• Assigning guests to tables they prefer, while keeping table rotation in mind so that servers receive the right number of customers.

• Engaging with guests to ensure they're happy with food and service.

• Responding to complaints and helping to resolve them.

• Answering phone calls, taking reservations and answering questions.

• A knowledge of the menu.

• Providing great customer service.

• Distributes menus and presents the daily specials.

• Answers questions regarding the menu.

• Assists with other restaurant tasks such as cleaning the dining area and preparing silverware and condiments.

• Performs other related duties as assigned.

*Required Skills/Abilities:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Ability to provide top-notch customer service in a fast-paced environment.
• A positive attitude and ability to work well under pressure with all restaurant staff.
• Does high-quality work while unsupervised.
• Able to work in a standing position for long periods of time.
• Able to safely lift and easily maneuver trays of food when necessary.
• Willing to follow instructions and ask questions for clarification if needed.
• Able to handle money accurately and operate a point-of-sale system.
• Able to work in a busy restaurant environment.
• Restaurant experience prefered.

• Prolonged periods of standing and walking.

• Must be able to lift, balance, and carry trays of food weighing up to 25 pounds.

Job Types: Part-time, Full-time

Pay: $10.00 - $13.00 per hour

Physical setting:

• Casual dining restaurant

Shift:

• 8 hour shift

Weekly day range:

• Every weekend

Ability to commute/relocate:

• New Orleans, LA 70119: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)

Education:

• High school or equivalent (Required)

Experience:

• Host/hostess experience: 1 year (Preferred)
• Restaurant experience: 1 year (Preferred)

• Day Shift (Required)
