The Position
- The Director of Dialysis is responsible for developing and implementing department goals, plans and standards and will ensure that all processes fall within clinical, regulatory, administrative, and ethical standards implemented by UP Health System-Portage.
- Reporting to the Chief Nursing Officer, the Director of Dialysis will collaborate with the Medical Director to evaluate departmental operations, patient care delivery, information technologies, and complaint management to ensure that performance and quality metrics are achieved.
- The Director will be accountable for carrying out crucial staffing functions including hiring, orientation, evaluations, disciplinary actions, and education initiatives.
- Responsible for evaluating the quality and effectiveness pertaining to nursing practices and will use evidence-based practices to implement new operational and clinical protocols throughout the department while seeking ways to optimize patient care.
- The Director will strive to establish and maintain positive and professional working relationships with staff, physicians, and the community through creating and fostering a positive environment to allow for professional growth throughout the organization.
- Candidates will ideally bring extensive knowledge pertaining to Dialysis Services including End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD), and will be familiar with current and pending ESRD legislation, reimbursement guidelines, and medical advances within the Dialysis field.
- Will prepare, monitor, and evaluate departmental budgets including the revenue cycle management for Dialysis Services, and internal/external audits while ensuring that the department procedures are within compliance protocols for allocated funding.
- The Director of Dialysis must be able to represent UP Health System-Portage Dialysis in a positive manner while interacting with physicians, hospitals, the Midwest Renal Network, and other organizations throughout the community.
- Seeking a collaborative and transparent leader who will involve staff in departmental updates and will work to create a trusting foundation throughout the department while ensuring that staff members and physicians are receiving substantial support in needed areas.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree is required; Master’s degree is preferred.
- Minimum of five years of clinician experience within a healthcare setting is required, which includes a minimum of two years of experience within a Dialysis setting.
- Active RN license is required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP), and Perioperative Nurse (CNOR) certifications are required.
