What You'll Do

The Donor Database Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of Upbring’s development database, including gift processing, preparation of data filings for mailings, and serving as the lead trainer in Raiser’s Edge, among other key activities. Our Upbring staff members are servant-leaders in the pursuit of breaking the cycle of child abuse and empowering others to do the same through example while embodying our core values: We are Warriors. Work Standards

  • Responsible for the overall usage, accuracy, efficiency, security, maintenance, administration, and development of Upbring’s donor database.
  • Prepare standard and ad hoc mail files for direct mail, publications, events, or other mailings. This includes developing and running queries, segmentation and exports and reviewing lists for accuracy and completeness before sending to internal or external sources. 
  • Work with staff, develops data selects for newsletters, direct response mailings, online campaigns, and event invitations.
  • Manages online gift processing through Online Express.
  • Proactively lead regular database hygiene and maintenance efforts, including duplicate management, data appends,  research and updates of specific datasets through imports, and periodic data audits, etc.
  • Identify and address both the opportunities and challenges of robust database use, proposing new and improved applications
  • Serve as lead trainer for Raiser’s Edge and back-up for donor gift entry and acknowledgement
  • Available to work on site at Cross Park office three days per week.

Communication

  • Oversee the gift processing and acknowledgement process; proactively seek ways to streamline the process and make it more effective; coordinate with staff on gift accounting, acknowledgement, and accurate record keeping and reporting
  • Field and respond to donor inquiries regarding Upbring and/or the donor’s contributions to the organization.
  • Lead annual process for reporting giving for donor tax receipting
  • Ensure Raiser’s Edge data management policies, procedures and best practices are documented and up to date.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Development Operations

Fiscal Management

  • Work closely with the accounting department by providing monthly reconciliation reports

Qualifications

Must Have

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, or closely related field
  • 2 years managing Raiser’s Edge database
  • Strong people and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate, work, and interact with diverse groups of people
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills with the ability to use persuasive communication
  • Ability to apply a high level of initiative and motivation
  • Strong computer skills and advanced user of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Raiser’s Edge

Nice to Have

  • Professional Certification from Blackbaud (bCRE-Pro)
  • Experience working in a data-driven environment with Key Performance Indictors (KPIs)
  • Experience with MailChimp, Chimpegration, NXT, Importomatic, and/or other third-party software that integrates with Raiser’s Edge
  • 2 years of supervisory and management experience

Physical Demands & Work Conditions

  • This position requires sitting and looking and using a computer for long periods of time
  • Lift, push, pull, move up to 50 lbs.
