Overview
This position will have oversight of the Escort Youth Care Workers and provide them with their flight assignments, verify and coordinate flight arrangements and any other transportation needs. This position reports to the Lead Case Manager. In accordance with Agency policies and procedures, licensing standards, Federal, State, Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF), and local regulatory agencies. Work Standards
- Works closely with Lead Case Manager, Co-Lead Case Managers, and Senior File Clerk that will provide flight arrangement and UC information
- Works directly with Escort Youth Care Workers with reunification of UC and monitors safe escorts departures and arrivals back to the program
- When Escort Youth Care Workers are transporting by vehicle, ensure UC safety before, during, and after transportation by adhering to all DOT safety and driving guidelines and laws; ensure UC are adhering to established safety protocol during travel
- When utilizing fleet, work with Escort Youth Care Workers to conduct pre-and-post trip operational and safety inspection of vehicle and immediately notify management if vehicle does not meet operational or safety standards
- Work with Escort Youth Care Workers to ensure the vehicle has all the necessary supplies to meet expected and unexpected situations during transportation
- Work with Escort Youth Care Workers to clean and maintain cleanliness of vehicle before and after each transportation
- Transports UC for reunification as needed
- Other duties and projects as assigned
- This position will be required to evacuate during an emergency evacuation as needed
Communication
- Communicates with Lead Case Manager, Co-Lead Case Managers, and Senior File Clerk of any changes in flight itinerary, departure, and other items regarding the UC reunification
- Communicates with Escort Youth Care Workers to keep them up to date for their upcoming travel itinerary
- Communicates with Lead Case Manager, Co-Lead Case Managers, and Sr. File Clerk related to reunification of UC
- Work with Escort Youth Care Workers are submitting reimbursements/receipts for every reunification
- When traveling by vehicle make sure escorts are entering in mileage logs are maintained and accurate and always maintain confidently of resident according to HIPPA
- Available after hours, to aid Escort Youth Care Workers due to re-routed flights as an outcome of weather or mechanical problems, which includes hotel and transportation arrangements
- Ensure Escort Youth Care Workers submit all travel receipts (meals, travel (taxi) and hotel expenses.) in a timely manner
- Report all incidents, accidents, and inquires to management in a timely manner according to Agency policies and licensing standards; keep management informed of any changes in travel always plans or transportation schedule and recommend possible solutions
Fiscal Management
- Work with Escort Youth Care Workers are submitting reimbursements/receipts for every reunification in a timely manner
- Provides training to Escort Youth Care Workers on Agency policies

Teamwork
- Work closely with Senior File Clerk and information attained from Lead Case manager to maintain a transportation schedule of escort- youth care workers for UC reunification
- Work closely with Facilities management to ensure vehicle registration and insurance documentation is current and valid; ensure all proper documentation is in the vehicle prior to transportation; ensure vehicle maintenance is current and up to date
- Work in partnership program administration, management, and staff to ensure the program and services meet the needs of the UC and the mission and vision of the Agency

- Coach and support escorts to ensure they have the necessary tools and resources needed to optimize performance and ensure established program goals and service delivery is achieved at the highest quality level; provide ongoing support and coaching to all direct reports to ensure the facility is operating effectively and efficiently in accordance to established programs and services
- Work closely with management team to interview, hire; arrange for external training and provide and/or coordinate in-service training for staff development
- Regularly review employee performance and provide supportive feedback
- Complete, conduct, and submit the 90-day and annual evaluations per established completion date as per agency policy and procedures.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- 1-year transportation experience; preferably in medical transports or residential care
- Ability to use assistive devices to board and un-board residents/children and physically secure residents/children in the vehicle
- Clear verbal communication skills and the ability to give and follow written and oral instructions
- Ability to follow instructions and directions
- Ability to use good judgment and think quickly and rationally in difficult and stressful situations
- Valid Texas Driver’s license and proof of auto insurance; ability to meet Agency insurance provider guidelines as an insured and approved driver
- Maintain a good driving record and the ability to drive and navigate in varied geographical areas and during various weather conditions
- First Aid, AED, and CPR certification (or ability to obtain within 3 months of employment)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
Preferred Qualifications
- 2 years’ experience transporting children and individuals with mental health and/or behavioral concerns
- Bilingual (English and Spanish based on service area and service population)
Career Progression
This position is eligible for promotion/transfer. If an appropriate position is available, the employee must meet minimum qualifications, including the promotion/transfer eligibility guidelines.
Physical Demands & Work Conditions
- This position requires operation of a commercial vehicle for long periods of time
- Position works in a child facility and has constant exposure to children
- Lift, push, pull, move up to 50 lbs.
