Borrmann Metals is powered by UPG is looking for a Summer Intern for our Burbank, CA facility. The Sales Interns will focus on training to become a business development and customer retention expert for structural steel products and processing offered by Borrmann Metals. This paid internship will provide valuable, hands-on opportunities to learn from industry professionals. This position will report to the Inside Sales Manager.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Learn and apply technical sales techniques
- Research potential markets & sectors
- Analyze and interpret sales data
- Conduct account database maintenance using our ERP
- Assist management with special projects for commercial team
- Safely observe various internal processing operations to acquire professional technical knowledge
- Prospect for new business and maximize potential growth opportunities
- Conduct competitive market intelligence
- Forecast sales trends, sales dollars and communicate competitive situations
- Maintain and enhance our sales position with a small group of existing customers through phone and email communication
- Business plan development and execution
- Interact with commercial team through job shadowing and assisting with quotes and orders for customers and prospective accounts
- Interface for customer quality issues
Position Requirements
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree with anticipated graduation date in Spring 2025 or Fall 2025. Engineering Technology majors preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, team player and results oriented
- Ability to manage own time effectively and to work autonomously
- Highly organized and accountable for own actions
- Work well in a fast-paced environment
- Can communicate effectively across all channels and build relationships easily
- Proficient MS office suite skills
- Ability to interpret blueprints and CAD files, a plus
- Familiarity with basic metallurgy, a plus
- Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills
