This posting is for a part-time instructor at Fort Loramie Junior/Senior High School. The instructor will be responsible for Upper Valley Career Center’s Introduction to Construction courses taught at Fort Loramie Junior/Senior High School and will provide instructional activities that are consistent with the objectives of the program. The instructor will prepare and conduct lessons for courses from the Construction Technologies pathway as identified in the state of Ohio content standards. Part-time instruction will consist of 3-4 class periods daily. The time of day in which the courses will be delivered is flexible depending on the needs of the selected candidate. The direction of the program will also include content delivered utilizing Project Lead the Way Engineering Curriculum. The instructor will direct the learning experiences of the students, including skill development, human relations, and leadership qualities, which are necessary to obtain gainful employment in this career field.

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Instruct classroom and laboratory classes according to State Content Standards.
  • Design and implement real world applications for students.
  • Design and implement a curriculum that includes construction, carpentry, metal working, manufacturing, CAD, 3D printing, engineering, and robotics.
  • Manage student behavior for the purpose of providing a safe and optimal learning environment.
  • Recruit students into the Construction Technologies courses.
  • Ensure that a safe learning environment exists for all students.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Must hold or qualify for certification/licensure in Construction pathway, which would include 5 years of experience in the Construction industry.
  • The instructor must have a strong and diversified background in construction, carpentry, metal working, manufacturing, and CAD. Preferably a background in 3D printing and robotics but not required.
  • Must meet all the requirements governing teacher education and licensure.
  • The instructor must be a strong team leader, possess excellent human relations skills, and serve as a role model for students.
  • Meets all mandated health screening requirements.
  • Maintains a record free of criminal violations that would prohibit public school employment. Able to successfully pass a BCI/FBI background check.
  • Maintains compliance with drug-free workplace rules, Board policies, and other applicable procedures/guidelines.

Salary:

Appropriate placement on the Certificated Salary Schedule to be determined by education and experience. Maximum 839 hours per year. One-year contract with opportunity for renewal.

Other Benefits:

State Teachers Retirement System and Worker’s Compensation. Upon hire, additional benefits may be offered depending upon hours worked, job classification, and placement on the Upper Valley Career Center Salary Schedule. Some benefits are a shared cost between the employee and the Board of Education.

Performance Evaluation:

Job performance is evaluated according to policy provisions and contractual agreements adopted by the Upper Valley Career Center.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $37.00 - $61.00 per hour

Expected hours: 15 – 25 per week
