What are the responsibilities and job description for the Loader/Unloader position at UPS?
Preload position overview:
- Report to work on a regular and timely basis
- Bend, stoop, climb, stand, walk, turn, and pivot for 3 – 5 hours per day, 5 days per week
- Grasp and control movement of packages
- Continuously lift, lower, push and pull packages that range up to 70 pounds (average package weight is 12 pounds)
- Continuously lift, lower, push, pull, leverage, and manipulate equipment and/or packages up to 130 inches in combined length and girth and up to 48 inches long
- Lift and lower or push and pull packages at rates of 200 – 400 packages per hour
- Continuously lift packages to heights above the shoulder and lower packages to foot level, placement locations vary from above the shoulder to foot level
- Assist in moving packages between 70 – 150 pounds
- Read label information at distances up to 18 inches away
- See, hear, and communicate with sufficient capability to perform assigned tasks and maintain proper job safety conditions
- Work in an environment with:
· variable temperatures and humidity
· exposure to dust, dirt, fumes, and noise
· outside, inclement weather
· exposure to conveyors and other moving equipment
- Demonstrate the ability to:
· read words and numbers
· concentrate, memorize and recall
· follow directions and routines
· work independently with appropriate judgment
· exhibit spatial awareness
· identify logical connections and determine a sequence of response
· process up to 2 – 3 steps ahead
- Work at elevated heights, in enclosed spaces and on uneven walk surfaces
- Work cooperatively in a diverse work environment
- Perform other functions that may be assigned
- Extended hours may be required as service needs dictate
