Uptown Animal Hospital is a growing GP/Urgent Care hybrid facility in the beautiful city of Gig Harbor, just West of Tacoma. Our team is a compassionate group of veterinary professionals including both Urgent Care and GP veterinarians, LVTs, assistants and customer service representatives who have helped develop our newly built hospital into a fully functioning, client-centric staple in our community.

Uptown is proud to be a full service hospital, complete with our own in house diagnostic lab, digital radiology, state of the art surgical suite, ultrasonography, an in-house pharmacy, separate cat hospitalization ward (to limit stress to our feline patients), an isolation ward and we serve the Gig harbor and surrounding area.

We are currently seeking several team-players who are detail oriented, positive, self-starting and eager to grow and learn to join our family-like team, focused in our Urgent Care team

Please review the qualifications carefully prior to applying as experience IS a requirement for these positions.

• LVT is preferred but we are considering skilled assistants with 5 years of in-hospital experience in an emergency or specialty setting.
• All aspects of animal nursing care (lab sample collection, surgical prep/monitoring/post-operative care, dental prophy and oral radiographs, injections in all routes of administration, IV catheter placement, radiology positioning and safety practices, phone and in-person triage, medical record keeping, client education (both verbal and written), basic drug calculations, ability to follow direction, working with treatment/flow sheets, understanding of commonly used veterinary medications, running blood samples, microscopic evaluation, patient/shift rounds)
• Ability to work well under pressure and multi-task efficiently
• Work well in a team setting, communication skills between team mates are especially important!
• Scheduling flexibility is a requirement as this position may include weekends and some holidays - especially if you are hired into our urgent care department.

EDUCATION

• High school diploma or GED.
• LVT - License must be active in Washington State, or at minimum, application in WA State currently pending with proof of eligibility for state license.
• Assistant - if unlicensed, 4-5 years in hospital experience in a specialty or emergency setting will be a requirement for this position.
• Emergency experience preferred.

Pay: $22.00 - $28.00 per hour
