Position Summary:
St. Lawrence Community Health Center offers services that are essential to a patient's general health including Primary Care, Optometry, Social services, Podiatry, Nutrition, Gynecology, Prenatal, Ophthalmology, and Health Education.
We are currently hiring an Optometry Assistant who will be responsible for performing a variety of administrative and clinical duties to provide support to optometry and ophthalmology providers with patient care, clerical duties, and related health education activities.
Incumbents must have availability to work 32 based shift Tuesday through Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm.
Minimum Qualifications:

High School Diploma required.

Medical Assistant certification/degree from accredited program and/or optometry preferred.

One year of previous experience working in an outpatient setting, community-based center or related healthcare setting preferred.

Proficiency with computers and software (previous training in electronic health records is a plus)

Strong communication skills.

Ability to multi-task.

Kindness and compassion towards others and passion for supporting our patients.
Key Duties:

Prepare the patient for the visits, optometry exam and procedures.

Document all necessary patient information including history and chief complaints.

Assist the optometrist in the development and completion of internal and external referrals as needed.

Confirm appointments and places follow-up calls to patients that no show.

Prepare and distributes educational materials relevant to the optometry exam.
Starting Compensation: Minimum $18.75 per hour; Maximum $21.00 per hour
