Position Title: Workforce Job Developer

Position Summary
As part of the Career Pathways Program, the Job Developer assists other team members with managing new employer contacts. The Job Developer will identify and match program participants, who possess the required skills needed to fill vacant position(s). In addition, the Job Developer will work with ULLA’s workforce team to help identify barriers of enrolled participants, which prevents them from being successful in the workplace. The Job Developer will also assist program participants in the development of their Individual Employment and Career Plans, and will coordinate employment and reemployment services, aligned with their strengths and career interests.
The Urban League of Louisiana’s Office of Workforce Development (OWD) focuses on communities where there is a high concentration of economically disadvantaged individuals. OWD’s Career Pathways Program is a comprehensive job skills training program that prepares unemployed and underemployed individuals for success in the workforce. places an emphasis on economic prosperity for career seekers residing in the five major cities across Louisiana. OWD aims to provides workforce programs that are designed to ensure that individuals seeking career services can participate in the workforce and that no career seeker is left behind. The mission of OWD is to build core competencies that produce a common set of knowledge and skills for career success and provide a foundation for career seekers to access a full range of occupations that offer self-sustaining wages.
Essential Functions
1. Greets clients and visitors with a positive and helpful attitude.
2. Assists in the functional and fiscal success of all workforce programs.
3. Performs recruitment and outreach of program participants to increase program enrollment.
4. Performs data entry on all career seekers and others visiting the Urban League’s workforce center, which includes data entry of all intake applications, assessments, daily attendance, case notes, file labeling, etc.
5. Conduct ongoing program recruitment and outreach, program orientation, and intake assessments on all career seekers to determine eligibility and suitability for workforce services.
6. Work with participants to develop education and career plans.
7. Collect and catalog business resources and service information in order to make appropriate referrals.
8. Collect all supporting documents (time sheets, attendance logs, etc.) for program participants who are engaged in on-the-job training, work experience, internships and/or direct employment placements, etc.
9. Track program participants as they matriculate through the program to ensure that they are meeting required milestones, document hiring outcomes on program participants, and review and modify education and career plans as needed.
10. Timely input of case notes and maintenance of electronic case files in Urban League’s internal data management system and as needed in a funders data management system.
11. Produce reports on participant activities, progress, and outcomes as requested by senior staff.
12. Create and distribute weekly and monthly marketing campaigns via Constant Contact and on social media platforms
13. Other deliverables as necessary to meet programmatic and funding deliverables.
14. Performs all other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position, Monday – Friday. Routine weeknight and weekend assignments may be required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in human services or a business-related field, required. Graduate degree, preferred
- At least 3 years of experience in delivering work readiness training in classroom setting, required.
- At least 3 years of experience working with people from marginalized communities, returning citizens disabled population, and opportunity youth, required.
- Ability to work in the following settings: pre-trial service programs, probation offices, prisons, pre-release facilities, parole offices, American Job centers, offices of vocational rehabilitation, incarcerated veterans transition and employment and training services, homeless veterans programs, required.
- Knowledgeable about labor market information, trends, employer requirements, preferred.
- Experience conducting mock interviews, creating résumé, cover letter, and follow-up documents, required.
- Superior networking skills, required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, required.
- Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications, required.
- Access to reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license with clean driving record and verification of appropriate insurance coverage, required.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $40,000.00 per year
