As part of the Global Data and Analytics team, the Exploratory Analytics Consultant will support the analytics needs across Urban Science. This position will support and contribute to analytical projects and assist with the creation of easy-to-understand analysis and recommendations to both internal and external clients globally that meet quality, scope, budget and deadline requirements.
Workplace flexibility has taken on a whole new meaning here at Urban Science. The requirements of each team, role and employee can look quite different. Leaders work with their teams to determine the right balance for working in-person and remotely, considering the needs of the business, our clients, cross-functional projects, individual work, and individual preference. This role has current Hybrid Workplace flexibility local to our Detroit, Michigan office location. Candidate must be available and willing to work in-person up to one day per month.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide Analytics support for projects focused on resolving client operations challenges with internal and external clients.

Interact with internal and external clients to collect requirements and specifications.

Gather and organize operations data for analysis.

Contribute to the development or selection of procedural methodology to solve client operations challenges.

Assist with interpreting data sets and analyzing alternative solutions in order to develop recommendations for use of the information.

Work with LAM, Data Modelers, Database Administrators, Practice and other internal partners daily to ensure the proper access to information, flow of materials and completion of projects.

Partner with subject matter experts on data analysis to achieve logical and effective completion.

Participate in regular status meetings with internal team members to ensure that the project is on track and deliverables are correct, timely and appropriate.

Proactively communicate status of deliverables, updates and report issues to management in a timely manner, in order to ensure awareness and appropriate resolution.

Develop and distribute reports and deliverables on time, adhering to client requested specifications. Deliverables will include description of analysis process, thoughtful articulation and exhibition of results through charts and graphs, defense of results and supporting case studies.

Contribute to and / or present findings and recommendations in a clear, concise and targeted manner to internal and external clients.

Generate new ideas and assist with plan creation for research and process / analytics development.

Contribute to the development, identification and generation of repeatable processes for future use derived from completed analysis.

Adhere to applicable PMO processes.

Actively participate in and adhere to quality control process. Track and verify data in order to improve accuracy.

Actively participate in required Urban Science training programs to achieve targeted development objectives.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Must have Baccalaureate degree in an appropriate technical or analytical field such as Engineering, Statistics, or Applied Mathematics from an accredited U.S. college or university, equivalent foreign institution. Master’s degree preferred.

Must have 4 years relevant work experience.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
- Apprentice level certification in at least one practice area required.

Basic knowledge and experience working with SQL.

Project Management Apprentice preferred (or external equivalent).

Basic Statistics Assessment required; Statistics 1 required after hire.

Intro to Operations Research required after hire.
