Job Summary
This position will support teachers through the lesson cycle by providing lesson planning guidance, implementation and modeling of the Creative Curriculum, classroom observations and feedback. The Mentor Teacher assists in maintaining Parent Aware and Minnesota Licensing standards. The position performs their work under the direction of the Educational Director.
Education and Experience
- Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education and relevant license/certificate; Bachelor’s preferred
- Child Care Development Associate (CDA) certificate required
- Administrative experience preferred
- CPR and FA certified or willing to get it
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Bilingual (English and Spanish)
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and related program software
- Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail
- Strong presentation skills
- Action-oriented and self-starter; highly efficient with minimal direct supervision
- Growth mindset, positive attitude and encouraging coaching style
Responsibilities:
- Substitute in classrooms when necessary
- Perform inventory of center toys, books, and materials
- Staff the front desk along with the administrative team
- Support Educational Director in maintaining a 4-Star Parent Aware rating
- Prepare and submit evidence as assigned to the Quality Documentation Portfolio
- Provide support to teachers for their Parent Aware observation
- Support and coach teachers in implementing the Creative Curriculum
- Observe teachers in the classroom and engage in coaching feedback
- Order classroom materials for weekly lessons
- as necessary
- Maintain records of training and development activities, attendance, results of assessments
- Support teachers in using Teaching Strategies Gold to complete child assessments
- Support teachers in preparing for family/teacher conferences twice a year
- Ensure that all assessments are complete and located in the child’s file
- Ensure that teachers meet the annual licensing training requirements
- Support staff in-service days
- Work with teachers to increase their confidence using educational technology for lesson planning, assessment and communication
- Model professionalism, teamwork and high-quality early education practices
- Assist teachers with meeting the goals outlined in their professional development plan
- Other duties as assigned
