Overview
Ursuline Academy of Dallas is seeking a full-time teacher for Seminar classes. This teacher advances the school’s strategic imperatives and mission related to student well-being and the development of the whole person. The full-time Seminar teacher collaborates with the Seminar Coordinator, colleagues in various departments, and with external guests who partner with Ursuline. In addition to collaboration, this role includes teaching, facilitating activities, and supporting presenters through classroom management while drawing students into the lesson of the day. As the teacher of record, this person would be responsible for connecting themes from unit to unit and writing/overseeing curriculum.
General Authority
The Seminar teacher reports to the Seminar Coordinator who reports to the Dean of Students. The full-time Seminar teacher will transition to Seminar Coordinator and Teacher for the 2025-2026 school year.
Key Responsibilities & Activities
- Plans the semester syllabus and curriculum with the Seminar Coordinator beginning in the summer
- Teaches five classes each semester
- Holds students accountable and manages large seminar-style classes with up to 50 students
- Coordinates and communicates with guest speakers
- Presents on various topics to the classes throughout the semesters (e.g., friendships and relationships, social media, conflict resolution, good decision making, values, personal finance)
- Regularly collects feedback from students for use in gauging effectiveness of content and delivery
- Collaborates in establishing and maintaining Seminar budget
- *Any other activity or responsibility assigned by the Seminar Coordinator or the Dean of Students

- Experience in secondary-level teaching or working with large groups of teenagers
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field of study; further degrees are preferred

Teaching experience in a Catholic and/or independent school and/or all girls’ environment is strongly preferred.
