Pediatric Emergency Department*
- ED Volume: 49,000
- Provides the highest level of pediatric emergency medicine care in a 46-county area
- The only Pediatric Level I Trauma Center in central Texas within a 46-county catchment area
- 45 ED Beds
- 12-14% admission rate
- 8- and 9-hour shifts with 8-63 hours of physician coverage and 8,10, 12-hour shifts totaling 8-20 hours of APP coverage per day
- Currently have 24 pediatric emergency medicine attendings, 4 pediatricians and 5 advanced practitioners.
- Physician Qualifications: BC/BP in Pediatric Emergency Medicine or EM
- APP Qualifications: BC PA or PNP-Acute Care/FNP with 2 years Peds ED/CC/UC experience
- In addition to working clinically in the emergency department, physicians serve as faculty in the Department of Pediatrics at The University of Texas at Austin Dell Medical School
- Cerner/CPOE and PowerNote Documentation
- RN training (PALS, ACLS, TNCC, Magnet, Pediatric SANE, etc.)
- Robust and successful pediatric emergency medicine fellowship with 12-13 fellows annually
- Attendings oversee residents from pediatric, emergency medicine, family medicine and transitional year training programs
- Faculty strongly supported to pursue academic, professional, quality improvement, advocacy, research, etc.
