Duties
Works under the direction of an activity manager, who provides general instructions, standard procedures, and policies, and relies on the incumbent to control work operations and accomplish an adequate quality of work.
Serves as a working supervisor over the kitchen work area exercising responsibility over employees' work in the assigned area of operation.
Plans the use of workers, equipment, facilities, and materials on a day-to-day or project-by-project basis. Adhere to work priorities, project schedules, resources, and detailed work plans established by supervisor.
Follows customary work cycles and sequences in planning work assignments. Tracks and reports progress on work assignments and requests authority to adjust worker assignments and to use overtime, equipment, and materials to meet schedules.
Recommends changes to schedules, priorities, and work sequences as necessary and makes minor deviations in procedures or redirect resources under to overcome problems such as unplanned absences.
Assigns work and provides technical direction; helps in accomplishing difficult work steps.
Observes work in progress to anticipate and resolve problems; reassigns personnel and coordinates work among the workforce and with other supervisors to maintain progress and to meet schedules.
Supports and explains management programs to subordinates. Recommends performance ratings, training, disciplinary actions, changes in performance, and the most suitable applicants for vacancies.
Investigates grievances and complaints, resolves them informally and notifies supervisors of those of a serious nature.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
A one year probationary period may be required.
Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2. and may include a medical examination.
Incumbent may be required to complete a Tier 1 background investigation for a Common Access Card for physical access to federally-controlled facilities.
The ability to obtain and maintain (in first six months of employment) Food Protection Manager Certification acquired through an American Nationals Standards Institute (ANSI) accredited agency is required.
Able and willing to work nights, weekends, holidays, and special events.

FWS Allowances and Differentials
This is a federal wage schedule (FWS) position.
All FWS employees are entitled to overtime work for work in excess of 8 hours in a day or in excess of 40 hours in the administrative workweek, whichever provides the greater benefit to the employee.
