Duties

  • Inspects and analyzes refrigeration equipment.
  • Diagnoses malfunctioning electric fixtures and completes needed repairs.
  • Needs broad knowledge of and skill in maintenance methods and techniques for trades applicable to the nature of assignments.
  • Prepares cost estimates for completion of a job.
  • May prepare and paint equipment, fixtures, furnishings and bulking; hang wallpaper; install and repair water, sewer and gas fixtures; and cut, bend and fit pipes and fittings.
  • Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing over 50 pounds.

  • Direct Deposit and Social Security Card is required.
  • Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
  • A one year probationary period may be required.
  • Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
  • Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2 to include a Tier 1 background investigation.
  • Successfully complete physical medical examination.
  • Incumbent may also be required to complete a Tier 1 background investigation for a Common Access Card for physical access to federally-controlled facilities.
  • Required to follow safety procedures and use standard safety equipment such as gloves, ear protectors, and safety glasses to avoid possible hazards in the work area.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
1. Lift and carry ladders, scaffolds, and materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
2. Possess skill in the use of power tools used to complete projects.
3. Have demonstrated ability to use electrical test equipment.
4. Possess math skills necessary to measure, fit and cost materials used.
5. Possess a valid motor vehicle operator's permit.

PCS Costs
  • Payment Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs are not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government's interest.
FWS Allowances and Differentials
  • This is a federal wage schedule (FWS) position.
  • All FWS employees are entitled to overtime work for work in excess of 8 hours in a day or in excess of 40 hours in the administrative workweek, whichever provides the greater benefit to the employee.
  • Regular full-time, regular part-time (to include those in a limited tenure appointment category) and regularly scheduled flexible employees are entitled to Sunday premium pay when working Sunday shifts. A FWS employee will be paid a night shift differential of 7.5% for the entire shift when a majority of the employee's regularly scheduled non-overtime hours of work occur between the hours of 1500 and 2400. A FWS employee will be paid a night shift differential of 10% of the scheduled rate if a majority of the employee's regularly scheduled non-overtime hours of work occur between the hours of 2300-0800.
