Duties

As the Supervisory Compliance Officer of the Fast Track Team, you will have responsibility for the overall management of the team, including:

  • Establishing priorities and assigning work to your team members;
  • Supervising and training employees in completing high quality work to ensure processes are followed and standards are met, and cases proceed in a timely manner with appropriate deadlines;
  • Ensuring case strategies are well-developed and implemented effectively, and significant matters requiring management review are elevated;
  • Developing procedures and policies to promote efficiency;
  • Supervising negotiations with companies and the development of corrective action plans, directly participating in more difficult cases;
  • Providing guidance to other offices and industry on the Fast Track Recall Program;
  • Working collaboratively with staff in other CPSC offices to promote the agency’s mission;
  • Collaborating with other management officials to allocate resources needed to support the Division’s activities;
  • Addressing employee performance and conduct issues.

This is a Public Trust Position. Employment in this position requires a background investigation. Upon appointment, you will be required to complete a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450. You will need to provide the information annually.

You are applying under Delegated Examining and if selected under this authority, you will be required to serve a 1-year supervisory probationary period, even if you are a transfer from another federal agency.

Qualifications

All candidates must possess the Selective Placement Factor (SPF) to receive consideration for this position. The SPF required for this position requires you to work on sensitive cases involving death or serious injuries to consumers.

In addition to the SPF, applicants qualifying based on experience must have 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position.

Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

GS-14: 1) Managing and/or implementing product safety compliance projects or programs; 2) Advising and updating management officials on the status of product safety compliance issues; 3) Leading negotiations, cases or projects related to product safety compliance; and 4) Evaluating product defects in accordance with established legal standards.

Evidence of the above specialized experience must be supported by detailed documentation of duties performed in positions held.
