What are the responsibilities and job description for the Utility position at US Farathane?
US Farathane is seeking an experienced Utility.
Responsible for all areas of raw material. Handling and maintaining all molding machines with raw material.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Includes the following: Must be able to do full rotation. Other duties may be assigned.
- Keep all machines supplied with raw material properly dried and/or mixed per mix sheet. Must be able to read mix sheet and know where book is located.
- Make periodic checks of all grinders to insure the automatic loaders are working properly and manually unload all those not equipped with automatic loaders.
- Must be able to run, clean and maintain Moisture Analyzer.
- Must be able to hook up hoses (inlet/outlet).
- All material must be logged in daily at presses.
- All material accidentally spilled must be picked up immediately; that which can be salvaged must be carefully picked up to avoid contamination. That which cannot be salvaged must be vacuumed or swept up immediately to keep the plant neat, avoid contamination with other material and to eliminate the hazards of employees slipping on it. Report material loss to supervisor (Matl. # and weight) so it can be removed from inventory.
- Responsible to grind runners on automatic jobs and change barrels when they are full.
- Operate press during relief periods of Operators or in the absence of a press Operator. Must initial operator sticker when running the press. (As assigned.) Fill out break section on back of operator sheet.
- Spot check parts at presses for visual defects as described in Inspection Instruction Sheets.
- Load/unload trucks, driving hilo’s in a safe manner
- Disassemble and clean grinders, hoppers, dryers, and loaders, as required. Blow down entire inside of hopper and grinder.
- Vacuum and wipe down exposed areas of machines and equipment during production hours and thoroughly clean same during non-production time.
- All boxes at the press, whether empty or full, need to be kept in a neat, orderly fashion.
- Sweep the floor to keep it free of hazards as often as required so as to insure maximum safety and good housekeeping practices.
- Grind parts and /or runners identified accordingly and as instructed by your Supervisor.
- Keep all tools in their proper area in the Production Department.
- Remove all trash from Production area during and at the end of the shift to trash compactor.
- Safely drive lift truck when required. Maintain safe driving speeds, have acute awareness of all surroundings, stop at all cross aisles and keep congestion down by minimizing stock quantities of any item at all time.
- Scales are to be placed at the press, making sure they are set up accurately on jobs requiring their use (mixes). Mixing units only
- Press must be set up for next job before tool change is completed and start up sheet signed off.
- Perform corrective action for Quality or Production issues under the direction of the Shift Supervisor.
- Report all contaminated material and fill out hold tag by quality Inspector.
- Tag containers and barrels properly with lot numbers.
- Make in house lot # on all mixes and record.
- Band up and take out all full skids of empty gaylords, lids and used skids.
- It is the responsibility of all employees to take corrective action for all non-conforming items identified by the employee.
- Assist in training for new utility and/or backup utility.
- Clean material from injection end of machine at job change over.
- Required to be on Inventory team.
- When using anything sharp, cut gloves and cut / burn sleeves must be worn on both hands and arms.
- Must record material lot traceability prior to material use
- Perform other duties as required for the safe, efficient operation of the plant.
- Perform other jobs directed by Supervisor.
Qualifications:

- Operate blenders, mixers, and raw material weigh scales. Be competent to determine proper raw material mix ratios from job specifics.
- Able to read and understand label and mix sheets.
- Capable of lifting forty-five (45) pounds from the floor to a height of approximately five (5) feet approximately forty (40) times per shift.
- Ambitious in your job.

- Self-Discipline.
- Must have Lock-Out, Tag-Out Training
- Willing and able to work six (6) days a week whenever required.
- Education and/or Experience- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Certificates, Licenses, Registrations- Hi Lo license with Crane training required.
